Recorded in 2013. Released on East-West Collective CD "Humeurs" on Rogue Art(Paris).  Ochs - tenor sax / Sylvain Kassap - bass clarinet / Didier Petit - cello /Miya Masaoka - koto/ Xu Fengxia - guzheng, voice. This is only the first 5 mins. of a 15 minute piece.

Finn Passes Pluto

This is the first 25% of a piece released on Tzadik in 2015. Listen from 0:00 to hear how Ochs and the band set up an improvisation with a clear framework. Here there is a process that all players work with. Namely: create a "cell" -  a core riff, a sound, or even a feeling - that one then repeats in variation. Variations that might juggle the note order, or vary the rhythms, or add and subtract to the core sound, etc. -  closely listening - at all times - to what the other musicians are adding in to the mix.  The piece in total is the soundtrack for the movie you create in your own mind while listening. I specifically invite Wim Wenders.
