I released a lot of pent up anger in this song. A lot of things I never said to old friends who hurt me. Over the course of making this song, and listening to it a million-bajillion times, I realized it wasn’t all one-sided. I took part in allowing myself to be hurt by them. All in all this was growth for me. Now I know the art of protecting energy by setting boundaries.

This is a song about an emotionally unavailable boy. He’s not nonchalant in a cool way, but a battered one. It’s hard for him to picture himself reciprocating love when the feeling of receiving it is so foreign. As he moves into manhood the healing begins. If he ever wishes to picture “real love”, work must be done.
