Crews cruise on 48 hours of news
Mother, brother, father interviewed
“I know your child just died and I don’t mean to be rude but could you, just a few questions?”
“No fuck you”

Cuz this a daily journey
One night, one faceless body on a gurney
Same shit laws and defense attorneys
 
Rubies litter linoleum
Night bitterly dystopian
Light leaves a soul again

But Death makes another friend
Right in his element
Live on acetaminophen 
Walking dead citizens
Beholden to our sins
Stricken with the human condition
Fuck the physicians
Caring don’t demand a prescription

Interviews secured
Suits walk out the door
Society self-assured
But the bodies pile on the floor.
