Whenever I've made a mixtape, I've found the idea of simply mixing two songs together as boring. My vision for mixes is to pretend that each part of a song is on its own turntable and that I can mix the song's individual parts together. This allows for endless possibilities. I am not the world's best DJ, but my mixes aim to be flawless because it is the world as I imagine it, not the world as it is and I believe very few DJ's could mix 8 parts at once. Hence the Octopus. The Octopus's many arts embody what I would hope to do as a DJ, although perhaps a slight bit more of dexterity would be needed. This is the vision I see within the music and hope that you enjoy it. The whole project is out today and all proceeds go to the OrchKids Nonprofit here in Baltimore City. The OrchKids program creates music programs in schools here, since there are no publicly funded ones.
