 Italdan was a great sport about this episode as we talk about a very common emotion in early competitive gaming. Humiliation and frustration. These are completely unnecessary things to feel, yet we all feel them as we learn new things. 

For myself and Daniel, that feeling came from the same person. Samir Hossain. Probably one of the most technically talented fighting game players definitely the city has produced and maybe even Canada.

OCV Presents TOSF Podcast Episode #2 - ItalDan TOR Top Player

Guest: Henri "Chi-rithy" Oung

So this episode bridges our opening trilogy, which will end with the Samir episode hopefully within the coming days. Unfortunately it was recorded in a bar and it had some background noise we're still working to reduce to give you guys the best listening experience.

And who better to bridge a Toronto top player, a former Toronto top player than arguably the best player in Canada right now for Ultra Street Fighter 4. 

I beat Henri the first time we ever had to play each other in tournament at M.A.T. 7. He would never lose to me in tournament again over several meetings. I would adjust my game plan and train for certain situation but Henri was always that much more prepared than I was when I played him.  

There's a reason he's the only Canadian you regularly see on the American tournament circuit. 

I try to delve a little bit into his habits and mentality and his meetings with Samir.

OCV Presents TOSF Podcast Episode #3 - Chi-Rithy MTL Top Player

This episode meant a lot to the OCV team, as we all felt like it was a story that didn’t get the attention it deserved. Although the previous episodes are neccesarily required to gather the details of the story I think they definitley help. Episode #2 is the 1st part.

Samir, to me, is quite simply one of the most masterful Street Fighter players in Toronto’s history. He’s notable for essentially being a child prodigy in a game that was notoriously more difficult than the rest of its kind (SF III: 3rd Strike). This game also produced one of the fiercest periods of Toronto’s competitive fighting game history. If you look up the names Ack, AdamB, Chi-Rithy, JS Master, Chun, C-Royd and many many others you would discover a tome of accomplishments that our scene doesn't really compare to today. We talk about what made this period so competitive and the other factors that led to Toronto’s emergence as a North American player in the fighting game scene. 

We talk about how mine and Italdan’s first and probably most impactful meeting in the fighting game community was probably with him, and of course he doesn’t even remember it happening. Our story was such a common occurrence to him that he probably couldn't recollect it if his life depended on it. 
But that’s just the way Samir was. 

We also hear his side of the Henry Cen confrontation that we've built up in the 2nd and 3rd episodes.

OCV Presents TOSF Podcast Episode #4 - Samir TOR Top Player

A totally different format for this one. Most of team OCV was chilling at our HQ and we had NickCam drop by to start an episode I’d like to call… Sauga… Scum… It was much more free flowing and conversational, a nice change of pace. 

Nick’s rapid ascension in the Toronto fighting game scene was thanks to a can-degen attitude, and I rarely heard of a casual or money match at the time that he wouldn’t take. 

He would go on to play one of Canada most expensive money matches, play a grand finals with Justin Wong, win a bunch of locals, and make a name for himself along the way. 

He also happens to be the second most degenerate person I know, and he hangs out with the most degenerate person I know; Rebelo.

You may recognize him as one of the top online players of Killer Instinct today but we hear another side of him today. Here are the legendary stories of this man told from Nickcam’s hilarious point of view.

We also talk about the ill-planned tournaments that probably shouldn’t have gone down, our first U.S. major memories, but more than just the wins and losses. We focus on the little details that made these events amazing to us, those random moments of hype and the things that not everyone may find amazing.  

Nick also lets us into the back story of how his very entertaining set with OMGitzAndre went down at Summer Jam 6.  Shout outs to Big E from Philly by the way, one of the best tournament directors to do it out there.

OCV Presents TOSF Podcast Episode #5 - NickCam TOR Top Player

Hey guys, this is the TOSF podcast (Toronto Ontario Street Fighter)

My name is Dave Ro and I'm the podcaster for Team OCV.

Team OCV is a rag tag bunch of friends who met through competitive gaming in Toronto. 

Personally I've won a few tournaments but not since 2012 and Riceata, BlueBlazer and L.E.S. have far more of the competitive drive required of tournament fighting games on team OCV.

But this is about way more than just the games. We all have various passions and hobbies that we hope to hone and podcasts have always been mine. 


We'll have interviews with top players from across North America, interesting technical insight on fighting games from players of all walks of life, and also many other episode ideas and themes all based around competitive video games, especially in Toronto.

But, I think there are also some universally entertaining stories that my years in this weird and wacky scene have provided.

These are the stories uncut.
