The “Optix Collective” is a pairing of work by contemporary photographer Michael Stamaria aka MIGUEL with curated original tracks by dj/music producer Odd Circuit. Miguel’s journey with analog photography includes developing film in a homemade darkroom and exclusively using black and white film in his work. His minimalist, analog approach to his photography poetically complements Odd Circuit’s Minimal Techno pieces. The artists gravitate towards one another’s work and so this creative collaboration is a natural fit.

The concept for this mix came from a 90's R&B/Hip Hop party that I played at in Ebisu,Tokyo in October 2011. In this mix I try and convey the sounds of summer in the DMV (DC,Maryland,Virginia area) in the mid 90's. This mix is a smooth blend of R&B and Hip Hop that personifies my style of mixing. It was recorded using two Technic 1200's and Serato Scratch Live. I really hope you enjoy it!!

He's is a producer, engineer, and dj that grew up in New York during the golden era of hip-hop in the 80s and 90s. He started off breaking and by age 13 he had copped his first pair of turntables.

We discuss his career, making multiple genres of music, renaming yourself, moving to Japan, navigating Tokyo and making music while being legally blind, a bunch of other shit and we also live react to a song off the new Gang Starr album.
