Astral Records opens the month of October by welcoming AquAdro to the label for their debut EP. Based in Italy and comprised of Andrea Del Grosso and Antonio Castaldi, the AquAdro project first emerged in 2007. Inspired by the sounds of Hernan Cattaneo, Deep Dish, Satoshi Tomiie and more, the duo found favourable footing in the progressive music underground, landing releases courtesy of Bonzai Progressive, Stellar Fountain, Sudam Recordings and their own Revelation imprint. A shift in style has reinvigorated AquAdro of late, with a distinct astral techno flair to their productions the Italian duo has found a home on Awen Records, Three Hands Records and Valkyria Records. Now continuing that momentum, AquAdro add Astral Records to their resume with 'Nuwa' alongside a remix from Voices of valley.

Beginning with 'Nuwa' AquAdro deliver one of their most powerful productions to date. Led by a punchy groove, pulsating rhythms and astral stabs, its ethereal nature proves to be quite compelling. Dark and mysterious across the first act, it's flair for the dramatic grows as vocal fragments and sizzling effects elevate mood and tension leading into the break. Spanning over a minute in length, the centrepiece expands the narrative with a symphonic synth display and icy atmospheres melting down to a haunting vocal sample, as the groove drops for a thunderous finale. The companion piece 'Unicum' follows suit with more peak time flair as muscular grooves lay the foundation for growling synths and firing percussion. Ghostly vocal wails add depth and emotion as the narrative evolves, before a tense yet melodious break spearheads a devilish drop and charged finale.

Making their label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Nuwa' are Voices of valley. Formed in 2017 by Greek artists Valantis Likostratis and George Triantafyllakis, Voices of valley have achieved measurable success in relatively short order. Their dark, ethereal take on techno has won over the genre's tastemakers and landed them releases on BeatFreak Recordings, KATERMUKKE, Steyoyoke, Three Hands and Us and Them Records. Continuing what has been a prolific year, Voices of valley now make their Astral Records debut with a powerful take on 'Nuwa'. Combining pulsating rhythms with tough beats, crisp percussion and astral stabs makes for a sleek yet electric first act. Metallic arps roll forward, as layers of percussion push momentum into the main break. Grandiose and dramatic in equal measure, buzzing bass swells and cinematic pads highlight the centrepiece, paving the way for a clever transition into an effects laden drop and thunderous final act. A great complement to the original which caps off an excellent Astral Records debut for both AquAdro and Voices of valley. Don't miss it.

French techno titan POPOF celebrates the milestone one-hundredth release of his beloved FORM Music imprint in January 2022, as he enlists a selection of his all-time favourite producers to provide their own inimitable interpretations of his iconic 2009 hit record, Serenity.

Almost exactly thirteen years to the day since the minimal juggernaut first did its damage across international airwaves and packed warehouses, the Parisian producer and FORM Music label boss now looks to breathe fresh life into one of the most iconic records in his expansive career discography, as he announces a remix project of truly epic proportions. 

Delivering the 100th release on FORM and the label’s first full-length EP of 2022, the exquisite six-part package sees POPOF flex his A&R muscles to the extreme as he taps Booka Shade, NTO, Vitalic, ATOEM, OXIA and Pig&Dan for one of the biggest releases on FORM to date.

Speaking about the landmark release, POPOF commented:

“I'm really proud and honoured to have worked on this project for my label's 100th release, and there are so many talented artists involved! It's a milestone for me because it's the culmination of all the hard work my team and I have put into developing FORM Music over the years.” – POPOF 

Kick-starting the remix EP with their unmistakable rendition, legendary German house duo Booka Shade make their intentions known from the off with an expertly layered melodic journey, combining mind-bending synths, intricate percussion, and the trademark Booka Shade hi-hat shuffles, that we all know and love.

Up next, French melodic techno maestro NTO switches things up with the introduction of swung rhythmic triplets, warm, muted bass and playful sirens before handing the reigns to electro pioneer Vitalic who delivers thumping kicks, distorted basslines and cascading leads, on what is arguably the most hard-hitting interpretation on the entire package.

The second half of the EP sees slick French duo ATOEM make their eagerly anticipated debut on the Parisian label with a chugging electro edit, before long-time friend and label favourite OXIA restores a sense of groove with a deep, ethereal offering that ebbs and flows beautifully across its mesmerising six-minute duration. 

Last, but by no means least, POPOF calls upon legendary British stalwarts Pig&Dan to round out proceedings with another huge label debut. Bringing the package to an emphatic climax, Pig&Dan’s abstract techno offering pairs undulating basslines with ravey breakbeats and otherworldly soundscapes, as the celebrated debutants close out a truly outstanding 100th release on FORM Music.

Argentinian producers Øostil & U S H N U present a brand new EP on Hunter/Game’s Just This label. 

‘Safe’ has already been played by select DJs and tastemakers around the world. The track breaks the dancefloor with vanguard metallic flavor. Its characteristic and analog sound brings peculiar harmonies and atmospheric pads, shrouded in mystery. 

Label bosses Hunter/Game offer a dub meditative (dark and dreamy) version of the original, gradually building the tension that reaches its peak on the break. 

Citizen Kain takes a different approach with a mesmerizing dancefloor remake, ideal for peak time moments.

First up on remix duties we welcome back label favourites Senses of Mind. The Belgium duo fresh from appearing on BBC R1 'Wind Down' show on Somatic have crafted a remix that has something unique and distinctive to make this release extra special, while applying an extra dose of groove and warmth to this incredible tune.
The guys have also included a very special 'breaks edit' of their own remix which is not to be missed.

Also on remix duties we welcome our sound engineer Gonzalo ' Soul Brucke' who steps out from the shadows of his warm masters that have fulled dance-floors around the World. His edit brings more groove with melodic techno influences, turning his rework into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal. The added deep bass gradually eases its way to the breakdown, before unleashing into the rising melodic hook interwoven with the contagious groove for maximum effect.

As another year slowly passes by we would like to take a moment to step back and thank all of you who have been supporting our beloved 'Radikon' over the course of the last years. 2022 has been kind to us and our artists, we worked together with emerging talents, longtime friends as well as former idols who now are part of our constantly growing menage. What else is there to say when we can show our gratitude in form of our upcoming annually Reto compilation. We curated the finest of the finest for your year's end listening pleasures. Jonas Saalbach opens up this round with a trancy hymn featuring the ever glowing voice of SANDHAUS, followed by Arude's spotless Yinning and Yanning between hard grooves versus carefully placed melody patterns. Munich's Yubik delivers another melancholic masterpiece together with Mark Hoffen, escorted by the man Guzy himself who plays the Klaviatur of wide range noisy leads in a flawless dancefloor sharpshooter. Naeiiv states a confession of a 'Blank Mind' with a track loaded with big room arps and warm pad structure. 2022's Reto conclusion is delivered by Tantum with a classic rave machine that will keep floors vibing long after midnight.

My sets reflect a wide range of musical influences, and I always aim to take the audience on a unique musical journey inspired by the diverse sounds.

Oddity is an imprint curated and delivered by Fur Coat, focusing on melodic house and techno. Having begun to drive his career and sound in a deeper direction, the realization of his own label has given him the best platform to showcase this.

“Starting my own label is something that I´ve had in mind for a long time. It’s a platform to express myself and have 100% the control on the art concept I want to put on each release, the music I want to show from myself and the artists I share passion for, giving me the ability to invite them onto the label.

The label is giving Fur Coat the opportunity to explore artistically and promises to give a platform to new artists that fit with the sonic direction, whilst also inviting heritage talent onboard for remixing.
