More orchestration practice, with this one I wanted to try writing in different textures. A chordal melody at the start and a more bombastic, more homophonic ending.
Entirely written for and recorded on a Roland SC-8850 sound module which was interesting!

An orchestral piece written utilizing indeterminacy and aleatoricism. Some melodies were determined by some randomly generated numbers and at the start and end of the piece there are sections written using indeterminacy

Original music written by me. The first of many tracks, part of a small mock-up soundtrack of sorts.

This one is a home town theme, for a town that's far away from most civilization, generic medieval fantasy setting, maybe up in the mountains, rarely visited by anyone else, kinda quiet. It's the town where the main character of the story I'm basing this on resides at the start of the story. Really dramatic for a home town theme but there's a lot of melancholy to the plot and MC so it's to depict all of that.

Maybe I'll eventually write about the plot here idk, it's essentially an edited rip-off of Olberic's story from Octopath Traveler because I like it and I'm here to write music, not a plot lol

A track inspired by Dark Souls music

Second track of a small orchestral mock-up soundtrack. I hadn't written a love theme before but I think that apart from getting derailed a little in later sections, maybe it works? I think it would score a point in the story where the main character and his love interest realize their love for each other and then it further developes from there.

A piano mashup arrangement of Markositta's (https://www.youtube.com/@markosittasmusic120) "Rhythm of the Valley" and "A Knight's Delight", turning them into a legend about a bard knight. Story writing by my friend who goes by Pogosaur, big shoutout and thanks to him!

This was made as a submission for the 8BMT Discord 2023 Secret Santa event.

The script:
Long ago the gods created a land of color and light. As a gift, they granted its inhabitants talent.

In return, its inhabitants created music.

Instruments of all kinds were played to honor the gods. Festivals were held all year round where dancing and singing never ceased.

The land was bountiful and fair and the people wanted for nothing. The gods were pleased with the inhabitants.

Until one day...

An evil crept from below and robbed the people of their gift. They could no longer entertain the gods.

Enraged by this transgression, the gods withdrew their bounty and the land turned grey...

And silent.

One day, a courageous knight rode into the land with drum on hip and flute in hand.

He played a tune that brightened the land.

The people gathered round to listen to the knight's beautiful performance.

When suddenly...

The gods appeared before the knight to punish him for playing music without their gift.

The people pleaded on behalf of the knight and the gods agreed to spare him. Only if he could recover the lost talent to honor them once more.

The knight set off for the evil with his trusted instruments by his side. 

He travelled through mountains and valleys and forests and plains. 

Then took a turn towards a more sinister path. Deep beneath the land the knight encountered the evil.

The scourge of music bane.

Before the terrible foe he played a brave and powerful song. 

He beat his drums and whistled his flute. The song was pure and the knight played on..

Vanquishing the shadow.

With the gift of the gods returned, the land was once more filled with light...

And the festivals resumed.

And the people sang. And the people danced...

To the sounds you hear before you.
