An iconic and leading local figure, singer, dancer and educator, Ngulmiya Nundhirribala is the leader of the traditional dance group Red Flag Dancers and the Yilila group, director of the Numburindi Festival and partner with the Australian Ballet, the G20 Orchestra and the Dance Bangarra Theatre. In his work featuring contemporary classical composer and pianist Luke Howard and songwriter/arranger Anthony Gray, he performs ceremonial songs and Dhumbala (Red Flag) songs and stories, rooted in his family's centuries-long association with traders of the Makassars from the Sulawesi region of Indonesia in SE Asia.
His powerfully expressive voice improvises almost transcendentally in dynamic arrangements played by the 40-piece Budapest Art Orchestra. It is where traditional music from Arnhem Land, as it has been sung in isolation for millennia, organically evolves into high art, which aims to “show the young people of the region that they can sing this traditional style with any other culture or orchestration.

Έχετε δοκιμάσει κάποια στιγμή σε μια διεθνή παρέα που βρεθήκατε να ρωτήσετε πως ακούγεται στα αυτιά τους η ελληνική γλώσσα Συνήθως μπορεί κάποιοι να μιμηθούν τα ιταλικά τα γαλλικά τα ισπανικά τα γερμανικά αλλά τι γίνεται όταν έρθει η στιγμή μίμησης των ελληνικών;

Προσωπικά θυμάμαι ότι οι περισσότερες απαντήσεις στο ερώτημα αυτό συγκλίνουν στο ότι η ελληνική γλώσσα δεν μοιάζει με τίποτα ή με κάποια άλλη συγκεκριμένη ….Δεν είναι εύκολο να μιμηθούν την γλώσσα μας εκτός βέβαια από κάποιες στερεότυπες / κλισέ βρισιές παγκοσμίως γνωστές  δυστυχώς .

Άσχετα  για πέρα από τις μουσικές συνθέσεις και το νόημα των στίχων  υπάρχει   η μουσικότητα και τα εξωτερικά στοιχεία  μιας γλώσσας. Εγώ  θα το ονομάσω το ανάγλυφο της ,  χωρίς να εμβαθύνουμε σε στίχους και νοήματα των τραγουδιών. 



Για αυτό το λόγο στο πρόγραμμα σήμερα θα σας παρουσιάσω μερικά παραδείγματα στο πως χρησιμοποιείτε η γλώσσα μας σε συνθέσεις ελληνικών τραγουδιών από Μεσόγειους καλλιτέχνες. 


Ο λόγος που επιχειρώ ένα τέτοιο ελεύθερο πρόγραμμα  έχει να κάνει με το γεγονός ότι θεωρώ πως τα τελευταία χρόνια παρατηρώ ολοένα και περισσότερους καλλιτέχνες της παραδοσιακής μουσικής που διασκευάζουν δικά μας ελληνικά τραγούδια και συνθέσεις μας με τον δικό τους τρόπο. Η προσπάθεια  ανάγνωσης τους ίσως μας θυμίσει εμάς τους γηγενείς που προσπαθούμε να διαβάσουμε ποίηση σε Δωρική διάλεκτο όταν δεν ξέρουμε που να τονίσουμε τις λέξεις…  

Υπογραμμίζω πως αυτή είναι μια διαπίστωση προσωπική και όχι επιιστημονική αλλά επιτρέψετε μου να θεωρώ πως είναι ένα στοιχείο που ίσως δείχνει ότι ενώ εμείς σαν Έλληνες χρησιμοποιούμε όλο και περισσότερο αγγλικες λέξεις και όρους στη καθημερινότητα μας μερικοί ξένοι υιοθετούν περισσότερες ελληνικές λέξεις εκφράσεις ακόμα και επιστημονικές στον προφορικό αλλά και γραπτό ειδικά τους λόγο.

Δεν  θέλησα να βάλω μόνο την ελληνική λαλιά μόνη της αποκομμένη στο μουσικό μικροσκόπιο.Διάλεξα να παρουσιάσω αυτα τα παραδείγματα χρήσης των ελληνικών από διάφορες εθνικότητες και ηλικίες σαν στοιχεία / κομμάτια ενός Μεσόγειου βιτρώ / μωσαϊκού. παράλληλα με άλλες γλώσσα ακόμα και απειλούμενες με εξαφάνιση (όπως πχ τα Οξιτανικά , ή  ελληνόφωνη λαλιά της Κάτω Ιταλίας και ίσως λιγότερο τα Καταλονικά ).

Μουσικά το ενδιαφέρον στοιχείο που αξίζει να παρατηρήσετε είναι η χρήση της ελληνικής γλώσσας μέσα από την παράδοση μας με διαφορετικά μουσικά ακούσματα και όργανα , ακόμα και με ηλεκτρονικά όργανα που όμως  σέβονται και ακολουθούν τον αυθεντικό ρυθμό που έγιναν γνωστά από δασκάλους της τεράστιας Δημοτικής μας παράδοσης. 

Πως ένα Θρακιώτικο τραγούδι τραγουδιέται από 2 νεαρά κορίτσια από τη Καταλονία ;
Η αιτία που διάλεξα να κάνω  ένα τέτοιο πρόγραμμα ήταν η πρόσκληση από την Δημόσια Ραδιοφωνία της Σουηδίας, με την οποία συνεργάζομαι,  να παρουσιάσω δύο μουσικά προγράμματα  ταξιδεύοντας  στην σημερινή μας λίμνη Την Μεσόγειο. Το σημερινό αυτό  πρόγραμμα είναι τό ένα από τα δυο ταξίδια μου. Καλή σας  ακρόαση !

Giorgos Markakis Med Music Cruise vol. 2

Το Littlemore Tractus, που συντέθηκε το 2000 για χορωδία και όργανο, ανατέθηκε από τον Bernhard Schünemann, στον εφημέριο του Littlemore, κοντα στην Οξφόρδη , για τον εορτασμό της 200ης επετείου από τη γέννηση του Άγγλου καρδινάλιου John Henry Newman (1801–1890). Ο Καρδινάλιος Νιούμαν ήταν κληρικός, θεολόγος, ποιητής και στοχαστής που ήθελε να μεταφέρει τις καθολικές λειτουργικές παραδόσεις στην Αγγλικανική Εκκλησία. Το 1845 ασπάστηκε τον καθολικισμό, προκαλώντας σοβαρή πολεμική στους εκκλησιαστικούς κύκλους. Το 2010, ο Νιούμαν ανακηρύχθηκε «Μακάριος» από τον Πάπα Βενέδικτο 16.

Το Littlemore Tractus βασίζεται στις τελευταίες γραμμές ενός από τα πιο διάσημα κηρύγματα του Newman, Wisdom and Innocence, που δόθηκε στις 19 Φεβρουαρίου 1843 στο Littlemore όπου ήταν Αγγλικανός διάκονος. Αυτό το σύντομο ποιητικό κείμενο έχει βρει τον δρόμο του στις προσευχές των ανθρώπων. χρησιμοποιείται επίσης στην Αγγλικανική νεκρική λειτουργία και έχει μεταφραστεί σε πολλές γλώσσες. Αυτή η προσευχή για την αιώνια ειρήνη έχει βρει μια υμνο-χορωδιακή έκφραση στη μουσική του Pärt.



Η σύνθεση έκανε πρεμιέρα στις 21 Φεβρουαρίου 2001 στην εκκλησία St. Mary the Virgin and St. Nicholas στο Littlemore, ερμηνευμένη από τη Χορωδία St. Martin-in-the-Fields, οργανίστα Nicholas Danks, και υπό τη διεύθυνση του Paul Stubbings. Η εκκλησία, αν και με διαφορετικό όνομα, ιδρύθηκε το 1835 από τον John Henry Newman.

Η μουσική αυτού του κομματιού έγινε επίσης η βάση για το ορχηστρικό κομμάτι Swansong που ολοκληρώθηκε το 2013.

Το έργο Tractus δίνει έμφαση στις συνθέσεις του Arvo Pärt που συνδυάζουν τα ηχοχρώματα της χορωδίας και των εγχόρδων της ορχήστρας. Κυριαρχούν οι νέες εκδόσεις, με εστιασμένες παραστάσεις από την Ταλίν Ορχήστρα Δωματίου και η Εσθονική Φιλαρμονική Χορωδία Δωματίου υπό τον Tõnu Kaljuste's
κατεύθυνση που προσκαλεί σε εγρήγορση και συγκεντρωμένη ακρόαση. Από την εναρκτήρια σύνθεση
Littlemore Tractus, που παίρνει ως αφετηρία παρηγορητικούς προβληματισμούς από ένα κήρυγμα
από τον John Henry Newman, η ιδέα της αλλαγής, της μεταμόρφωσης και της ανανέωσης αντηχεί,
ορίζοντας έναν τόνο για μια ηχογράφηση της οποίας ο χαρακτήρας είναι η σύνοψη, η ματιά προς τα μέσα και
συμφιλίωση με το παρελθόν. 

Οι συνθέσεις που περιλαμβάνονται είναι Littlemore Tractus, Greater
Antiphons, Cantique des degrés, Sequentia, L’abbé Agathon, This Words... και Veni
δημιουργός. Μια υποβλητική επανεπεξεργασία του Vater unser για χορωδία, έγχορδα και πιάνο καταλήγει σε αυτό
άλμπουμ. Ηχογραφημένο στο Ταλίν το 2023 σε παραγωγή του Manfred Eicher (ECM), το Tractus επεκτείνεται
η σειρά οριστικών άλμπουμ Arvo Pärt ξεκίνησε στη νέα σειρά της ECM με την εποχή του περίφημου |"Tabula Rasa" το 1984.

Παρουσίαση στην εκπομπή του Τρίτου Προγράμματος "ΠΙΝΕΛΑ ΓΙΑ ΧΡΩΜΑΤΑ ΚΑΙ ΟΡΧΗΣΤΡΑ" - ΕΡΤ 

Την Δευτέρα βραδυ (15 προς 16 /1-2024 ) τα μεσάνυχτα παρουσιάσαμε  μια κορυφαία σολίστα της τεράστιας Περσικής  και σημερινής Ιρανικής κλασικής μουσικής παράδοσης . Πρόκειται για την Elshan Ghasimi  συνθέτρια και σολίστα στο όργανο Tar , που είναι μία από τις κορυφαίες μουσικούς σήμερα στο είδος που ονομάζεται Radif.

Η  Ghasimi αζέρικης καταγωγή από την περιοχή του Isfahan Teheran - του Ιράν σήμερα  έχει σαν έδρα την Γερμανία αφού  είναι αδύνατον να επιβιώσει επαγγελματικά στην πατρίδα της,  μια και οι γυναίκες μουσικοί δυστυχέστατα απαγορεύεται  να παρουσιάζουν μουσική δημόσια στο Ιράν ! 

Το είδος Radif κατά την άποψη μας αποτελεί ένα είδος μουσικής το οποίος κατα ένα τρόπο μοιάζει με την αρχαία ελληνική πολύπλευρη μαθητεία  κατά την οποία οι μαθητές διδάσκονται από τους δασκάλους τους εκτός από την πολύχρονη μουσική θεωρία και την φιλοσοφία, την λογοτεχνία, την ποίηση αλλά και τα μαθηματικά. 

 Η ήχογράφηση της Συναυλίας έγινε στην La Coruna με την βοήθεια της Ισπανικής Ραδιοφωνίας/ WOMEX 2023 και η συνέντευξη με μηχανικό ηχου τον Helgar Torgvar - NRK (Oslo).

Σήμερα  θα παρουσιάσω το υπέροχο άλμπουμ με τίτλο Nowruz, που έδωσε και το όνομα του στο ντεμπούτο , νέο άλμπουμ,  των Aga Khan Master Musicians από την δισκογραφική εταιρεία  Smithsonian Folkways Αντιπροσωπεύει το αποκορύφωμα μιας πρωτοποριακής συνεργασίας μεταξύ έξι καλλιτεχνών των οποίων η μουσική διασχίζει πολιτισμούς και ηπείρους. Αν και αντλεί έμπνευση από παραδοσιακές πηγές, εξακολουθεί να ακούγεται πληθωρικά στο σύγχρονο μωσαϊκό στυλ της εποχής μας με τις ευαισθησίες του.
Οι Master Musicians Aga Khan, ή AKMM, ήταν το πνευματικό τέκνο του Μουσικού Προγράμματος Aga Khan, του οποίου η αποστολή είναι να υποστηρίξει τις σύγχρονες εκφράσεις της μουσουλμανικής μουσικής κληρονομιάς. (Το πρόγραμμα διαχειρίζεται επίσης τα Μουσικά Βραβεία Aga Khan, που δίνονται κάθε τρία χρόνια για την αναγνώριση εξαιρετικών μουσικών ταλέντων από όλο τον μουσουλμανικό κόσμο.) Η ιδέα πίσω από το AKMM ήταν να προσφέρει σε ταλαντούχους μουσικούς με ρίζες από τη Μέση Ανατολή, τη Βόρεια Αφρική, την Κεντρική Ασία και Ανατολική Ασία μια ευκαιρία να αναζωογονηθεί η ιστορική κληρονομιά της πολιτιστικής επαφής μεταξύ αυτών των περιοχών με τη συγχώνευση, απλά το μπόλιασμα των αντίστοιχων μουσικών τους γλωσσών.
Αυτές οι γλώσσες, ωστόσο, δεν περιορίζονται σε παραδοσιακά στυλ και είδη. Πώς θα μπορούσε να είναι όταν τα μέλη της ΑΚΜΜ είναι κοσμοπολίτες που τα δικά τους ταξίδια ζωής έχουν διαμορφωθεί από τον εκτοπισμό / απομάκρυνση  λόγω της παγκόσμιας πολιτικής αλλά και πολεμικών συγκρούσεων που έχει σαν επακόλουθο τη μετανάστευση από τα μέρη τους.

Οι συντελεστές / μουσικοί που απαρτίζουν αυτό το εξαίρετο σχήμα είναι:
Ο σαξοφωνίστας Basel Rajoub ο οποίος γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στη Συρία και τώρα κατοικεί στην Ευρώπη. Η Pipa maestra Wu Man που εγκατέλειψε την πατρίδα της, την Κίνα,  για να ζήσει στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες πριν από περισσότερα από τριάντα χρόνια, αλλά επιστρέφει τακτικά για να διδάξει και να εμφανισθεί σε κοντσέρτα. Ο Sirojiddin Juraev, που είναι γεννημένος και μεγαλωμένος κοντά στην αρχαία πόλη Khujand, στο βόρειο Τατζικιστάν, είναι ένας βιρτουόζος ερμηνευτής στο δίχορδο τατζικέζικο-ουζμπέκικο ντουτάρ ή ντοτάρ. Ο Τυνήσιος βιολιστής Jasser Haj Youssef, με έδρα το Παρίσι, που χρησιμοποιεί την μπαρόκ viola d'amore ως ιδανικό εκφραστικό όχημα για την κλασική αραβική μουσική maqam. Ο Feras Charestan που είναι από την πόλη Al-Hasakeh, στα βορειοανατολικά της Συρίας, και  που σπούδασε κανονάκι στο Ανώτατο Ινστιτούτο Μουσικής στη Δαμασκό. Ο Abbos Kosimov, ένας δεξιοτέχνης του Ουζμπεκιστάν στο καρέ ντραμς, μοιράζει τον χρόνο του μεταξύ του Σακραμέντο της Καλιφόρνια και της Τασκένδης του Ουζμπεκιστάν. Η συμμετοχή τους σε μια πληθώρα διεθνών καλλιτεχνικών έργων τους έχει φέρει σε θέση σίγουρα να παρουσιάζουν την Τέχνη τους σαν ομάδα αλλά ταυτόχρονα να έχουν την δυνατότητα να συνεργάζονται με συναδέλφους από όλο τον κόσμο και να μπολιάζουν την δική τους μουσική με  μια πληθώρα μουσικών επιρροών από όλο τον κόσμο.

One of the first ever interviews of George Michael (autumn 1983) with Wham ! Before even they released their first LP We met in CBS headquarters at that time in Soho square London. The band Wham!(duo actually) had released only their first two singles on  Innervision label -licensed to CBS- and their were rehearsing for their 7 sold out shows in Hammersmith's Odeon.
