After almost three years of tinkering I am very happy to present this mix inspired by the melodic progressive house scene that seems to be most popular in Argentina and throughout latin America. This particular genre is characterized by complicated polyrhythms and sweeping melodies that works equally well for chilling out at home or in a big room (turn up the bass). MMZ - NYE 2021

This mix features some of my favorite tracks from the first five years of DJing (2006-2010). The concept for this pandemic project was a greatest hits of sorts from my early sets, but a little slower and better mixed. (Fun fact: my original DJ name was Mix Meister Zarg, which I quickly realized was the worst DJ name ever and shortened to MMZ.)
 
This mix is dedicated to Liliana Wills who provided early encouragement and suggestions as I taught myself how to DJ whilst we stayed home with our firstborn. 

With special thanks to:
-	Patrick Johnston (aka Allegro) who was there at the beginning and continues to be a mentor

🇸🇾🇩🇪🇶🇦🇨🇦 While hosting guests at the World Cup in Qatar (my day job) I was introduced to Shkoon, a Syrian/German live act that quite simply blew my mind. In addition to their own lyrics, the duo uses old traditional music elements of the Arab community, such as Syrian folklore. It was such an amazing experience to be on the dance floor while everyone in the building sang along to the songs that I felt the need to share with my network of music lovers. You know that feeling where a track just feels right. This happens when your heart, your soul, and your mind are in sync. Your heart responds to tempo, your brain responds to frequency, and your soul responds to melody. You are now in sync and your body wants to get up and move.

Our bodies have an autonomic mechanism that syncs with strong, external rhythms, pulses, or beats.  This phenomenon is known as entrainment. We entrain to rhythms around us all the time, although we are usually unaware of it.

The relationship between the external rhythms and our inner rhythms or pulses is inseparable. In fact our internal rhythms will speed up or slow down to match a stronger external rhythm.

Less energy is used when 2 objects are entrained. In other words, we consume less energy when we are in step with surrounding energy, and we waste energy when we are not in sync with the greater, surrounding energy.

Think back to your most unforgettable club nights or parties. Remember the energy you felt when you moved as one with like- minded people who are also in sync. That is the power of electronic music.

This is the reason why I am a DJ. It is my hope you find moments of entrainment with these mixes.
