Episode 30 on Rádio Quântica featured a very special guest mix from Ithaca's @otodojo [ACID CAMP, Microtones] alongside resident @ceremoniesdj.

In the first hour, otodojo explores the sounds of Detroit weaving through everything from cosmic, mind warp techno to punchy, euphoric house. All records are from either Detroit producers or Detroit based labels, and all were obtained over a couple of trips to record store Threads Detroit. 

In otodojo's own words:

"I have family ties to Detroit and visited often growing up yet I never really had the opportunity to soak in the city on my own. After being invited by ACE to play Imbue's streaming event in March I took it upon myself to get to know the vibe of the city better. This mix was a chance for me to understand the city better from a sound perspective.

"Shoutout to Mike for some solid recommendations that were included in this set and shouts to Jared for sending me to Threads."

In the second hour, Ceremonies keeps it going with the Great Lakes / Midwest vibe, pulling in old faves from the likes of Azari & III, Green Velvet, and Mystic Bill.

Recently, otodojo released an audio-visual compilation supporting Amazon Frontlines (https://microtones.bandcamp.com/album/wave-seed-ii) -- This compilation serves as a drop in the bucket to aid the frontlines of deforestation and climate change, and as a vibrational prayer moving forward. Each track is inspired by a different aspect of environments.

ON EARTH 030: OTODOJO & CEREMONIES

January’s Warm Up 💦 guest was my @oepresents crewmate and longtime techno mama, @Kehdo!! If I scan back through my memories, I think the initial idea for OE Presents actually started with Kate. Looking back a little further, the fact that I even started dj’ing at all was also due to some strategic pressure from Kate. Kate’s been riding for the local scene for as long as I’ve known her 🤘🏽, always putting on the underdog, always spreading whatever resources she has around, always cheering everybody on and thinking about the next big thing. Needless to say, I think she’s pretty great 🥺🥺🥺
 
This mix is Kate’s vibe for a quieter and gloomier winter - enveloping and gentle on the nervous system  . Warm up your ears for the day with deep bass and crystal melody-lines. Kate takes us from 120bpm to 170bpm and back again crossing through drum and bass, pretty techno, shimmery dub, and a then cashing out with The Rah Band’s “Messages from the star”, perfectly wrapping up the shimmering vibes of the hour before. The tracklist features some recent cuts from Donato Dozzy, Akasha System, and iota, too.


Kate’s done some pretty cool shit in recent times, playing with Veronica Vasicka, Dj Stingray, Jasmine Infinity, Anthony Parasole and touring LA, mexico city, Montreal, and Detroit. Jex is a member of the @easternmargins collective, a platform dedicated to showcasing East and South East Asian artists through their NTS show, Twitch, and other music-oriented avenues.

To celebrate, we have an hour of psychedelic weirdness from Seattle-based Dani Loose, best known as @havingsex , who has been an active part of the American Northwest DJ scene for the better half of the last seven years. Loose has developed a reputation for playing cerebral, hi-energy sets that scatter genres all across the board. Since moving to Seattle, Loose has become a highly visible and outspoken figure, bridging the gaps of the queer party scene and the mainstream techno world.

What was originally supposed to be a meticulous dubstep mix, ended up being an hour and a lil bit of of found sounds from Soulseek trance compilations and gems dug out of the bins in and around Seattle. Expect a little bit of everything from goa, to broken beat, to wonky midwest techno. It is pure dizzy time energy in the style of On Earth! 🤯

This Month on Rádio Quântica On Earth brings you a very special emotional whirlwind from Chicago’s @dj_leesh! Leesh, aka Alicia Greco, a longtime purveyor of emotional dance music, has gig’ed around at some of our favourite parties in the midwest including Pittsburgh's @hot-mass and Detroit’s Movement Weekend Industry Brunch. She’s also put out mixes on some of our favourite platforms; @walkingandfalling, @acidcamp, and @ravescout Cookies to name a few. We are super honoured to host her today and the mix she’s crafted for us stays true to the emotional brand!

Leesh is not only a dj but also works tirelessly behind the scenes running the enormous @daisychain_podcast Platform. In her words, “Daisychain is a movement to showcase power, beauty, and strength of DJs and artists” featuring trans, gender nonconforming people and women in particular. Daisychain is a force in our greater community, hosting everyone from octo octa to past OE guests Rachel Noon, Darwin, and Davis Galvin, to even some OE residents themselves! We are so grateful and inspired for the energy and passion Leesh brings to the community with Daisychain ❤

In this mix, leesh takes us on a ride through soaring, shimmering synths and choice vocals all to the tune of an ever pounding drum. Emotional bangers indeed.

She's followed in the second hour by resident @ceremoniesdj playing a little slower than she usually does, weaving in and out of some uncharacteristic house music vibes, all while throwing in some tried and true bangers from hodge and minor science.
