Redimension is the label project of Joseph Capriati and is run as a platform to champion music that showcases the more underground side of his taste in techno. Along with tracks from the label boss himself, it’s also featured contributions from Adam Beyer, Anthony Parasole, Flavio Folco and Rino Cerrone.

Now on its sixth release, the labels latest EP is from Klaudia Gawlas, a leading lady in the world of techno who plays DJ gigs all over Europe and other parts of the world. Her skills behind the decks and crowd reading abilities are second to none, and those honed skills have translated into the explosive tracks she produces.

Working with a great number of highly respected record labels she has consistently proven herself to be a skilled producer, and she delivers the goods once again with a stunning four track EP of dark and thundering techno.

“The Siren” opens the show with crunching percussion and acid pulses that grow with ominous tension, whilst the dance floor focused framework of the mechanical groove ensures maximum impact. Fast and ferocious, this hard-hitting cut takes no prisoners with a menacing sound.

Keeping the same tough vibe, “Lightnings” is second on the EP with fast flowing hi-hats, clap rhythms, and hypnotic synth work. The eerie atmosphere present in this immersive cut of ground shuddering techno adds to its overall exhilaration of the track’s aggressive style.

Track three “Niet” focuses in on a sensual vocal layered over a tough percussive groove, which combine to create a captivating eloquence both unnerving and alluring. Distinctive and full of personality, there is no doubt that for many DJ’s this will be the main attraction of the EP.

Closing proceedings is “The Whirl” that uses an arpeggiated lead synth to create an uplifting mood to this otherwise sinister cut. Unrelenting in its onslaught, the invigorating strength of the tracks up-tempo and energetic momentum is like a tsunami of sound.

Although the existence of fabric hangs in the balance, the Farringdon club’s legacy will always live on through its celebrated mix series. Not many have been running—let alone remained as relevant—as long as this one, and there can be few better to carry on the baton than Scuba: he was the last artist to play at the club on August 6th 2016, and will donate all proceeds from the mix to the #savefabric fundraising campaign that plans to fight the closure.
 
London born Paul Rose’s career has been intrinsically linked to Hotflush Recordings, the label he set up in 2003. Its first release was also his first, under the Spectr alias with a debut as Scuba coming in 2005. In the subsequent years, Hotflush has played a pivotal role in the evolution of underground dance music, as has Rose himself, not only as an A&R and producer (of no fewer than four LPs and tens of EPs), but also with five years of Sub:stance at Berghain. Those parties famously introduced a bass-heavy outlook to a seminal techno club, and established a singular voice as other less cerebral interpretations of that sound took hold around the world. Coming back full circle to his formative mid-90s days of following Colin Faver and Jeff Mills, Rose’s fabric appearances evolved from bass music Fridays to the house and techno of Saturday nights.
 
“fabric has been a really important venue for me as a clubber and also as a DJ. The mix was put together over the course of a couple of weeks in my studio in London. At this point, I don't think the method is really important to how a DJ mix is constructed: if it sounds good then that's all that matters. There's a variety of old stuff, recent releases and brand new music, and also a mix of established producers all the way through to people that no-one will have heard of because they've never released anything.” - Scuba.
 
Those debut-making artists—Isaac Reuben, Glaskin, Blursome and DXC—will feature on both a VA sampler on Hotflush (October 14th) as well a one-off vinyl 10” including a brand new Scuba track (November 18th), and they knit in perfectly here with music from across a wide spectrum. Taking a no-nonsense approach, this is a visceral and scuffed-up, rugged and to-the-point selection. What’s more, Rose’s ability here to select, sequence and stitch together a whopping 42 tracks over 75 minutes is remarkable. Artists as diverse as Pearson Sound and Patrick Cowley, Donato Dozzy and Midland all get called upon, but nothing ever gets in the way of a dark, seductive atmosphere. It means that in amongst the bumping lo-fi techno and cavernous bass sounds, there is a palpable sense of being lost in the rave. Fog billows out, distant sirens go off and strobes flash. The pressure never releases. fabric 90, then, leaves you delightfully disorientated in the heart of Room 1, and you’ll never want to leave.

DC172 comes on behalf of Brazilian born Vinicius Honorio, a now London based producer and DJ who is making some serious in-roads amongst a new breed of techno artists. Having already released on labels such as Pig&Dan’s Elevate and dubspeeka’s Skeleton, the next natural step in his progression comes in the form of a release on Drumcode. 

‘Through The Darkness’ is a masterclass in darkened techno grooves, with each one of the four tracks managing to show off Honorio’s skill as a producer and just why he is firing on all cylinders. The release kicks off with ‘Walking Shadow’, a track that has been a key part of Adam Beyer’s sets at the tail end of 2016 and in to the new year. This tense, brooding affair has certainly garnered a lot of attention of late and it’s clear to see why. The title track ‘Through The Darkness’ is a much more of a stripped back cut, jam-packed with a haunting vocal hook, driving basslines and slick drums. This is one for the late night mischief makers. ‘Desolate’ is another hard-hitter, managing to perfectly balance that signature Honorio groove and pounding drums that adds depth to his productions. The release closes with the atmospheric ‘Out For Blood’, which is loaded with vintage rave stabs and weighty basslines – This one is meant to played in dark and sweaty rooms.

Arriving as the third outing of Len Faki’s recently established non-profit platform LF RMX, these previously exclusive edits take on a raging classic by courtesy of Frankie Bones, godfather of the North-American rave scene.

The new Hardspace Mix bolsters up the characteristic vocal and synths for even more frantic effect but trades in the percussion for Faki’s signature assault of claps and hats. These also dominate the stripped-back Hardspace Tool, which carefully builds momentum only around the sirens and some seriously sizzling low-end rumble. Both of Faki’s personal mixes capture the orignal’s raw energy, yet manage to appear in both sleek but powerful presence.

As with all releases of LF RMX, the proceeds of this record will be donated to the Berlin charity project Straßenkinder e.V. to be used in actions against child poverty.

The Rekids boss linked with Patrick Mason—a young creative at the forefront of Berlin’s art, fashion, dance music and LGBT scene—back in 2018 after they struck up a friendship in Panorama Bar. Now their superb studio work continues to bear fruit inspired by New York’s vogue scene, and these latest two tracks are perfect impactful once more.

The hard-hitting techno opener ‘Talking 2 B Mad’ is built on rock solid drums that never let up. Industrial synth fizzes twisted vocal loops and icy hi hats add detail to the most physical groove, which cannot fail to get you moving. On the flip, ‘Twitch' is just as physical and direct, this time with big synths suspending you in midair as the hammering drums seem to grow in size. It’s frenzied techno that is designed to make you sweat.
