We’re kicking off our OHBOY WORLDWIDE MIX SERIES with the Chicago House Legend, Paul Leighton Johnson. He is best known for his self-taught DJ style of house music and his 1999 single "Get Get Down", which became a worldwide hit.

Recorded at home in the lockdown, this mix mines Son of Lee’s extensive record collection with an eye toward slow grooves from across the decades. The tempos are modest, but the tunes are big—including classic boogie, cosmic disco, modern balearic and a hidden gem edit from the inimitable Tim Sweeney.

Son of Lee is a DJ, producer and curator based in Brooklyn.

A resident DJ for artist collective The Locker Room, Ponyboy, and Wild Birds, he’s also played records around the world from Berlin’s Kit Kat Club to Departamento in CDMX to hometown stalwart Bossa Nova Civic Club.

Vinyl and digital releases on Dailysession, Interference Pattern, Toucan Sounds and Disco Bizarre with an upcoming release on Rocksteady Disco in May 2021.

“This mix showcases the diverse genres of music I love, weaving together old and new, which is what I’m all about. It starts off with some bootlegs I made of a few classics, and then wanders through various moods and eras. I tried to take an unconventional approach to how I blended each record into the next since they’re not strictly dance records per se - I wanted the transitions to feel like you were melting from one track into the next. Hailing from Puerto Rico, Orteez began his musical journey at 17, diving into electronic music production in the early 2000s.
