In 2014 Rabbi Sacks recorded six thoughts for Ellul, providing wisdom and guidance as he reflected on the year gone by, and the new year soon to begin. 

This first thought, recorded ten years ago during a troubling time for our people, remains remarkable timely given the current situation in Israel, and for the Jewish people around the world.
