Baaz from Berlin gives us further insight into his diverse musical interests with his 'Two (For You)' EP on Office. As the title suggests the talented producer splits his musical activity into two genres on this record: One is deep and moody Techno with a knack for strong sub bass and soft pads. And the other one is striking Ambient with a wonderful appreciation of moving melodies and mellow chords combined with touching vocal parts. What is remarkable how well these four carefully building tracks go together and how effortless they further underline Baaz' artistic vision of reduced and understated electronic music which unfolds slowly but emphatically. A respectable new record which is well worth opening yourself to.

As Mosaic reaches release number 40, Steve O'Sullivan dives into another studio collaboration with his new label mate and expert hand, Mike Schommer - bringing in the talents of Rod Modell on remix duties. 

Etching two slices of dub heavy grooves that cover either side of the techno and house spectrum, their first effort emphasises the former on title track "Submerged" (B1). It doesn't pull any punches - precision moulded bass takes centre stage around evolving synths and classic delay action. 

Their 2nd "Depth Charge Dub" (B2) leans more towards the latter as the duo focus on the combination of a rolling sub, laidback percussion and subtle stabs that cycle gently around. 

The cherry on top comes in the form of Rod Modell's "DeepChord's Negative-Space Exploration Version" as he takes a 9 min trip to the hinterland of his sonic imagination, elegantly finding new layers and spatial effects. 

Call it what you will, 'dubbed out house with a splash of techno' or 'dubbed out techno with a splash of house' - this is heavyweight material.

Following up the debut release from Altitude, Vade Mecum returns with an EP on the limited 10Inch series with another legend in the dub techno world - Merv. They became notorious after some releases in the second half of the 90s, which included two tracks that are now considered dub techno classics: "Dust" and "Melted Vein". The Copenhagen based duo are back in the studio for a couple of years, after almost 2 decades of silence. Since then, they already released some quality new material on top labels from the scene, and we are absolutely delighted and excited to have them onboard.

This months release is dedicated to Korsakow's classic 90s Electro works, three pieces formerly only available on vinyl plus two unreleased beauties.
 
The Düsseldorf-influenced 'Mission: Elevator', recorded in 1998, was part of Korsakow's 'Live In Paris' double 12" on USM, the super funky 'Shake It' was the original B-side of 'Deep in Space', released on Müller Records in 1997 and the same year 'Japanese Fastfood' a somewhat cheesy but nevertheless very beautiful and now sought-after Electro-Disco piece was part of Korsakow's 'Line Vision EP' on BCC. 'Neurotic' was recorded in late 1998 or early '99 but never sent out to any labels. It's a dark and New Wave-ish Electro smasher, that already features a more hybrid production approach which again became present in Alex Krueger's more recent work. Finally 'I'll Be There' is a very deep and trippy electro tune with tons of ambience that was part of an early bedroom studio session back in 1995 and never released before. All tracks have been re-edited and processed for the 21st century by Jan Gabler.
