Wonderful conversation! Higher ed must address the most important aspect of schooling as it relates to learning - the teacher. Just as we must adjust or eliminate ineffective programs, we must do the same for the least effective teachers. Using instructional and support strategies proven to increase learning and close equity gaps is an imperative if we are to offer a more meaningful and relevant learning experience for the 21st century. Failure to standardize fundamental educational principles will allow the instructor and sectional variances to continue, as well as hindering efforts for social justice through a more equitable opportunity for success via higher education. It is the primary responsibility of instructional leadership to obtain the participation and buy-in for this mission of learning; and will be evident in the closing of achievement gaps.
