Many of you deal with a lot of emotions on a daily basis and some of you have unfortunately dealt with depression and/or anxiety. For me, I went through both.

During that time, I wrote this piece to express myself and how I was feeling. The words I wrote initially were a bit too strong, so I scrapped them from the final project. In the end, I suppose I wanted the music to speak for itself as it carries the listener through its journey of emotions.

I hope that this song speaks to you as it does to me and I truly believe that it will change your life. Remember, at the end of it all, you matter.

I wrote this earlier last year as a message to myself… because sometimes I really just need to hear that it will be okay. I struggle with a lot of emotions and have this constant fight with my own head telling me I’m not good enough. It’s so easy to sit back and do nothing but ponder what being “better” looks like.

Last year I started a journey to increase myself physically, this year, I’m starting the journey to increase myself mentally.

Ian Stembridge, aka “Lateral”, is a 23-year-old musician and solo producer living in Oklahoma. He’s a developing artist exploring and navigating what it means to create new spaces in the music scene. 

His early years were spent learning piano but by the age of 12, Lateral felt compelled to create his own art when music theory became too confining for him. Simply put: he felt trapped by the sheet music and wanted to carve his own path and since has developed a sound unique to him alone. 

After high school, Lateral joined the United States Air Force to serve his country, travel the world, and carry on his family legacy. In 2018, he ended up in Ramstein, Germany where he spent the majority of his creative time learning, collaborating, and developing his passion for creating original music that sends positive vibes to any and every person who listens.
