DREADNOUGHT - tritonia

hello!

here's my official return from my tumultuous break and what will (probably) be my final song for 2021. since it's the end of the year, i wanted this to be special to me

the concept behind this song is a dream that i had a year or so ago, in which i was playing some kind of bullet hell game. there was red, yellow, and green flashing everywhere, and there was also this intense breakcore music over the entire thing. also, i think the game could manipulate reality, but what do i know?

this song is a realization of that. considering it's origins, i took a few compositional cues from toby fox's "your best nightmare". as a matter of fact, i'm currently trying to incorporate more melodic/harmonic nods to video game composers like fox, lena raine, and daisuke amaya in my music, and hopefully i got off to a good start with this

it was really fun making a track with someone else in the span of two weeks (though i imagine this song only took about 20 person-hours of work). zyn is great with melodies, and i think that shows in this track. it was also great for me, because i got to put into practice some techniques i've been developing over the past six months, covering composition, sound design, and mixing

this is a remix of "hedgie thing" by @ok-cheez-96 that i made in june of 2022. it was supposed to be for a remix album of that and another song, but cheez cancelled it T-T

so, i figured i'd put it here. i really wish i could have uploaded more this year, but i've been working on a bunch of musical projects and i want them to be properly finished before i put them up anywhere. i really should learn to be more productive. plus, i've been in university for the past semester and i've been busy with that, so i guess i never had much time anyway
