North London newcomer C Cane breathes fire over Ruff Squad’s classic 2006 instrumental, Move 2 Dis, produced by Rapid. Taken from a forthcoming mixtape from Complex UK, #GRIMETIMEWARP Vol.1 is a project put together by Complex Magazine UK and its music editor, Joseph 'JP' Patterson. Inspired by Skepta's recent re-vocalling of Plastician's Back Then instrumental from 2005 and Novelist taking on Jon E Cash's '03 production WAR, #GRIMETIMEWARP sends Grime's latest Jedi’s back in time to shell the classic beats that they grew up on: 10 new MCs. 10 classic soundscapes. "It's great to be part of this project with so many other talented MCs, and this Ruff Sqwad beat is one of my all-time favourites,” says Cane who’s currently readying visuals, a mixtape and an acoustic EP for release.

Ten risings MCs were selected by Joseph 'JP' Patterson, and tasked with lacing instrumentals as OG as their favourite bar-slingers. First and foremost, this project is a celebration of the past and the present, reminding us of the DIY greatness grime once held whilst sharing sonic history with a post-Drake-grime generation. The tape features some of the genre's brightest talents of right now, as well as the off-kilter productions that's helped build the most forward-facing movement since punk. You are now locked in to the future.
