Japan-based KK NULL and Swiss guitarist Joel Gilardini team up to present the the third installment of their Psychic Drones series. Noise devotee KK NULL (the mastermind behind ZENI GEVA whose collaborators include the late Steve Albini, John Zorn, Sonic Youth, Merzbow, and countless others) and Gilardini, a sound researcher and experimentalist have been collaborating on their expansive and evocative series since 2020.

Clocking in at over an hour in length, for all of its foggy din, Psychic Drones 3 is exceptionally varied in tone. Noise, dark ambient, and drone are well-represented, yet as a whole, the piece is an emotional voyage in both synthetic and organic sound design, making incredible use of spatial mixing throughout.

From Psychic Drones 3's opening of intercepted menacing sub-bass transmissions to its final noise oscillation as the faint rhythm of heartbeats and EKG equipment fade out, the album is a prime example of audio as paint on canvas. Soothing arpeggios fade into screeching noise as surges of overwhelming warmth wash in and out. Amidst all of this chaos, there's a surprising, yet carefully curated mix of clarity and calm.

Hailed as “the spiritual offspring of Nine Inch Nails,” DEATHDANCE is a collaboration between Bijou Noir's Augustus Watkins and KPT. The duo's production has grown into a richly dark, brooding "mixture of electronic and industrial power."

Often writing remotely, but joining in-person for touring, their catalog consists of three critically acclaimed EP’s. Their 2014 self-titled debut which quickly reached the upper-tier of the iTunes electronic charts and their two-part concept series, Dormir and Réveiller (Sleep and Wake, respectively).

DEATHDANCE has also released a sprawling, hour-long deeply detailed, mysterious and occasionally unsettling opus entitled The Blessing, which first premiered as a part of University of British Columbia CiTR Radio 101.9FM’s “24 Hours of Radio Art” and was previously only allowed to be broadcast by hand-selected radio and streaming outlets.

Combined, they have performed with the likes of Die Antwoord, Justice, The Orb, Blanck Mass, Alan Sparhawk of Low, Lizzo, My Life with The Thrill Kill Kult, Poliça, Kirin J Callinan, Communist Daughter and many more.
