Lights Out return with their first release
since 2020.
Originally formed in 2019 by Neurofunk
royalty and longtime collaborators MC Coppa and L 33, Lights Out previously enjoyed a heavy
string of releases on labels including Eatbrain and Korsakov. After a pandemic-induced hiatus, the
Lights Out project is back in full force on their eponymous imprint, Lights Out Audio.
The title and opening track, Blaggers, is everything you would expect from such an esteemed
partnership. A cinematic introduction complete with cosmic pads and an ethereal synth arpeggio
paves the way for a hot sixteen bars from MC Coppa. Chopped up breaks and rolling kick drums
precede L 33’s signature combination of a tearout reece bass and punchy percussive elements.
Raw, unfiltered Neurofunk bound to send limbs flying.
Sabretooth Tiger ups the intensity even further. MC Coppa’s vocals are paired with a searing
chromatic melody as the track commences. L 33 strikes once again as the track drops; furious,
animated basses contrast against huge snares and skippy kicks. Cutthroat vocals and chaotic stabs
further add to the sheer power of the track.
Tony Montana rounds off the EP. Rising pads and plucks pair with vocals from MC Coppa in the
introduction, before the track climaxes with a flurry of shuffling percussion, full-bodied basses, and
tourniquet-tight drums. One for the gunfingers crew.
Over the course of three tracks, Lights Out push their uncompromising sound to the limit. With
calendar dates for bookings rapidly filling up and an LP in the works, Blaggers offers a taste of what
is to come from the dynamic duo.

Throughout the endless expanses of the savannah and the depths of the jungle alike can be heard a set of bellowing sounds that seem to shake the very earth beneath the feet of all the creatures who perceive them. The provenance of these sounds stretches back millennia, originating within a world frozen, shunned by its guiding star, and plunged into an age of ice and snow. Here strode a species of proud beasts of towering stature, their wollen bodies stretching upwards into the heavens as our own ancestors stepped gingerly across the permafrost in their gargantuan shadow. Careful not to provoke their ire and find themselves impaled upon one of the creature’s great ivory tusks, our people listened in awe as these great giants spoke, their thunderous voices echoing within the crisp air of that frozen era.

In the ages since, the relationship between our two species has changed. Our people have grown, and the descendants of the giants have found themselves smaller, standing in fear and awe of the technological progress that we have made. Our own species is now capable of speaking in an approximation of their tongue, replicating it not with our bodies but instead synthesizing it with our technology. Yet still, it is that when the great trunks of these once-mammoth beings speak in the tones that they have preserved for ages, even the most cynical amongst us do stand in awe of the sonic force that nature has created, listening intently to the booming call of the ELEPHANT’S LANGUAGE.

TEDDY KILLERZ return to EATBRAIN with their latest EP, ELEPHANT’S LANGUAGE, drawing a direct comparison between the resonant weight of their basslines and the powerful presence of some of the world’s most awe-inspiring creatures as they lead the EATBRAIN horde on a stampede across the EP’s 4 track span.

szintén. Mixeiben a Neurofunk és az Oldschool dnb dominál, de
olykor olyan alműfajokkal is meg tud lepni minket, mint pl. a Jungle
vagy a Deep drum and bass. Szettjei energikusak és tele vannak
double drop-okkal. Az elmúlt években a Szlovák drum and bass
szcéna legnagyobb rendezvényein lehetett öt hallani, mint pl. a
Blackout Slovakia, a Trident fesztivál, a Greenland open air illetve
egyéb hazai és küldföldi klubbeseményeken is.

Navegante immediately enters some deeper territory, scattering drum loops here and extended bass runs there. Your attention is drawn down to the core of the track, building back up to unleash the favour. A hectic pace is maintained by detailed beats, and an attitude of never letting go. Space for light and air slips in briefly, before you are shaken back into life by percussion and precision. The drums loop back in, the bass charts its course.
