Making music began as a hobby for James, but when he was introduced to hardstyle in 2009, he decided to take his passion for music more seriously, dedicating time to learn how to produce the sound that had captivated him. In this same year he went on to successfully sign his first release to Scottish Rave Essentials label under the alias Noizeboy. It wasn’t long before five further tracks were signed and Noizeboy became a more familiar name in the scene. This new wave of attention resulted in recognition by Italian hardstyle legend, Acivator. He could see James’ potential and felt his talent needed to be pushed on his Activa Shine label. With this came the new identity, Doull, and Activator and the label went on to support his next few releases.
After years of studying, developing and crafting his sound, James felt he’d reached another turning point. His latest production won Frontliner’s demo time, which was no easy feat, as the quality of music entered into this competition had been rapidly increasing. Due to this success and a guaranteed release on Frontliner’s revered Keep It Up label, James decided to capitalise on the launch of this big release, with a new alias, Kindred Spirit.
Despite James’ many achievements, he is disabled with spina bifida and wheelchair bound. This has only made him more determined with everything he’s dedicated his time to, and given him a relentless go-getting attitude and perseverance that has led to all his successes to date. Although there have been barriers along the way, more so with DJing, James has been strong-minded that his disability will not stop him and he will aim to achieve every goal he sets himself.
With Kindred Spirit’s debut release ready to go, James is ready to get back in the studio to work on a follow up. With his drive and determination, he intends taking his euphoric and energetic sound to new heights.
