Datboi Y.C.’s journey to Hip-Hop started when he moved to Canada, with the help of his friends, who are also into music and the Hip-Hop life style, surrounded him and also, listing to Hip-Hop legends like: Nas, Dr.Dre, Drake, Kid Cudi Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and many more. This influences him in pursuing a life in music, and using that opportunity to express himself. kind of music it was. With help from singles like “school boy swag” and “live it up” a remix to wiz khalifa black and yellow, he got the attention he needed to move on. Datboiyc has also open shows for numerous artists like sonreal, iyaz who is known for his hit single "Replay, Karl wolf e.t.c

His also found a way to balance his passion for music with school, which he officially graduated in august 2012 with a Bachelors degree in finance from Thompson Rivers University.
