My remix submission for Darren Styles' "Come Running" remix competition from earlier this year!

Not gonna lie, I've REALLY wanted to put this out for a while whether it won or not.

Knowing that everyone else, their mother and their fucking dog were likely gonna be doing the same old UK hardcore and hardstyle bullshit for their remixes, I figured I'd take a different approach to this track and put a dark and heavy twist on it.

What resulted was this weird but cool (I think) hybrid DnB hardcore tune (I guess? you maybe could call it crossbreed?).

So back in 2020 when I was evaluating where I wanted to go next with my sound, I went through a period where I was obsessed with making frenchcore. 

And nowadays, even though I'm most partial to the gritty industrial stuff, as you can tell from my last few releases, I still love me a good ole, fun fasty nasty. 

Anyways, I'm proud to finally be able to share with you guys one of the finished tracks that resulted from my first real head-first plunge into the world of frenchcore-making and the second-ever release on S3RL's new remix label, M4 music!

Two big influences of mine for the longest time have been 90s gangster rap and mainstream hardcore. Since first discovering mainstream hardcore as a very young teen, I've always wanted to try my hand at making something of this style-- something dark, gritty, and gangster as fuck. Now that my production abilities are at a certain level, I finally feel confident that I can scratch that itch & do this style justice. Not to mention the melody for this track had been stuck in my mind for several months. When an idea for a track sticks around for that long, that's how you know you have to make it a reality.

This remix was requested by a good friend and the concept for this remix was inspired by some classic Darwin and Hixxy tracks.

I thought it would be a fun challenge to try my hand at and overall I'm happy with the result.

****As a sidenote, because of the nature of the original track being a "worship" song, I feel it's worth mentioning that I am NOT religious, though I do consider myself to be more or less "spiritual". 

To explain my own personal viewpoints on the nature of reality and creation itself (not that I or anyone else has all the answers or that anyone is owed an explanation from me anyway) would likely take pages and numerous book references, so I will simply condense it for now to saying that I personally find the common, fundamentalist viewpoints endorsed by the vast majority of churches and other religious institutions to be a childish and laughable parody. That is my disclaimer and I really do not care to have any discussion on the matter with strangers on the Internet. 

In terms of musical merit, the original track from BRIGHT was a solid enough track for me to get inspired and to think it worth giving a shot at a remix.
