In this track, I aimed to strike a unique balance between vicious, distorted basslines and ethereal, otherworldly orchestral textures. The result is a wall of sound that's both aggressive and celestial, creating a portal in which you can journey to the depths of a mythological ocean.

Poseidon - Ethos

In the realm of ancient Greece, where the gods and mortals intertwined, there existed a man named Ixion. Fueled by insatiable ambition, he dared to challenge the boundaries of divine order. When Zeus, the mighty ruler of the gods, observed Ixion's audacity, he decided to test the mortal's character.

Extending an invitation to the sacred realm of Olympus, Zeus welcomed Ixion into the company of the immortals. Ixion reveled in the splendor of the gods, indulging in divine delicacies. However, his heart, tainted by darkness, yearned for more. Blinded by pride, he set his eyes upon Hera, the queen of gods and Zeus' wife.

The transgression did not go unnoticed by the vigilant Zeus. Determined to deliver justice, Zeus devised a punishment of everlasting consequence. Ixion was deceived by an illusory Hera, a perfect replica designed to entrap him. For his sacrilege, Ixion was banished to Tartarus, a realm reserved for the most wretched souls. There, bound to an eternal wheel of fire, Ixion suffered ceaselessly, his screams echoing through the depths of the underworld.

Paul van Nimwegen AKA "Poseidon” is a Melbourne based producer & composer dedicated to bringing you powerful and cinematic bass music. 

Within the first 2 years of it’s inception, Poseidon received an award in Australia for EDM Awards "Best New Talent".

In that time, Poseidon has been on a mission to experiment and break musical conventions; from his 2 destructive, heavy EPs on Crowsnest Audio, all the way to his ambient, orchestral and melodic LP on Open Outlets. 

Poseidon released a collaborative EP titled “Eidolon” on VALE, with artists ÆTERNA and Leon Ross. "Zen Mirage" from the EP, was played live by Noisia, alongside being premiered on Noisia radio.
 
Poseidon began his journey creating dubstep, with a goal in mind of merging melody, orchestra and destruction together. Proceeding his dubstep releases, Poseidon has begun experimenting with other forms of genre such as half-time, and experimental music. 

One thing is clear, Poseidon is not interested in falling into a specific category. Instead, this producer & composer is on a journey to create powerful music that evokes, challenges, or impacts his audience in a modern way, to weave stories into abstract sonic worlds.
