Born in the United States in 1969, in a family of musicians, Kamilean grew up in a Universe of Soul and Jazz all through childhood. Studying in Hollywood and travelling during the summer with his mother on tour who sang for the great crooner Paul Anka mostly in Las Vegas, Kamilean met all kinds of celebrities. He was always surrounded by singers. From birth, his dad played instruments in front of him and taught him some jazz chords on the piano.
Since he was a little boy he always loved to dance, but it wasn’t until the year 2004 that he would be coached and groomed by Suga Pop and Popin’ Pete of The Electric Boogaloos, who also taught Janet and Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and Chris Brown.
In between Lausanne and Vevey, Switzerland, is where “Contrast,” Kamilean’s first solo album would be born after various collaborations with different international artists. Not to mention his stage presence between the U.S, Mexico, and Europe.
His second album “Living Sacrifice,” became a sort of staircase to musical maturity. Although his previous works show us his passion for reggae-dancehall, pop, and funk, we begin to see and feel his love and appreciation for classical music.
By the time we get to his 3rd album, we see the desire Kamilean has to go back to his roots of playing acoustic piano and singing, using a style that he calls “Soul Variety.”
The spice of his creativity and experience mixed together to conceive “The Candles Album,” will easily keep your flame burning, and your hearts glowing.
