Italian artist Christian Rossi, aka Unknown Code, and UK mainstay Drumsauw last appeared on Virgo back in October with their well-crafted ‘Berliner’ EP.
Opener ‘Unfuture’ mixes physical drums with atmospheric pads and distant vocals, with a surging warmth to the fizzing pads that help move things onward. ‘Can You Hear’ gets more raw and rusty with textured hi-hats and thudding kicks, all working you into a state of mediation while hammering hits and freaky vocals elevate it above mere tool status. Next, ‘Illusions’ brings synth pulses that convey paranoid energy over the rolling linear beats before ‘Motion’ serves up raved-up stabs and oversized hi-hats that wash over the dancefloor in waves of urgent techno that cannot fail to make a mark.
