The streets of Ravenport hissed with static as neon bled through puddles, painting everything in oil-slicked color. The low hum that trembled through the ground grew louder and louder.

Suddenly, a shadow moved overhead and then dropped into view. 

The figure had red eyes that were locked in a predatory stare, cutting through the darkness like lasers. Chrome limbs flexed beneath shredded armor, and rows of sharp teeth clicked in anticipation. This was no beast but a cybernetic predator that was closing in on The Mindweaver and Kellan.

Kellan lunged first with his blade drawn, attempting to neutralize the cyborg. However, he was too slow.

The cyborg caught him mid-swing and slammed him into the pavement, cracking the street.

The Mindweaver stepped forward, building energy between his hands, and the attacker quickly launched at him with its claws tearing through the air.

He barely dodged the strike and retaliated with a focused pulse that also missed its mark. The two relentlessly exchanged strikes over and over again, lighting the street in bursts of sparks and flashing neon.

Without warning, another shadow moved in the distance.

Devour

They say time heals. Cory Fletcher knew better. Time buried. It didn’t cradle the dead — it shoved them into the earth and walked on.

As the frontman of Divine Distortion, Cory didn’t just write about death — he lived in its constant hum. Every distorted drop, every shivering vocal line in Time was pulled from sleepless nights haunted by the hollow eyes of those who once stood beside him but now whispered nothing from the grave. Friends. Family. Unbelievers who scoffed while he clung to something greater. One by one, they vanished — swallowed by choice or chaos. And he remained, shovel in hand, heart on fire.

“It is time,” the voice said in the track’s opening. Not a warning — a verdict. Time didn’t wait for redemption. It stripped illusions, exposed darkness. It showed Cory that the lines between heaven and hell aren’t drawn in fire or light — they’re drawn in silence. In the moments after a heartbeat stops. In the face of someone who once said, “God isn’t real,” now clutched by the cold.

Each drop in Time isn’t a beat — it’s a burial. Each hook, a hymn torn from a nightmare. The synths don’t rise — they drag, like souls gasping through static. And as Cory channeled all that loss, rage, and faith into tearout, brutalstep, and distortion, Time became something more than a song. It became a spiritual reckoning.

Because when death is always at your side, you stop writing for the living. You start writing for the ones who might still be saved.

“Time” — A sonic dirge soaked in dread, it plunges listeners into a cinematic descent through death’s shadowed doorway. From its haunting intro — laced with twisted horror synths and the mutterings of a ghost-touched machine — the track unveils an atmosphere where decay isn't just felt, it’s heard.

As stuttering static, sub-bass growls, and fractured rhythms crawl under the skin, the track whispers of a soul’s slow unraveling: “There’s no light inside.” Each hook slashes like a memory carved in ash, while the drops erupt with seismic force — distorted, grumbling bass that doesn't just shake speakers but summons the soil itself.

Layered with disembodied choirs, reversed percussion, and glitch-scarred melodies, Time is more than a tearout and brutalstep anthem. It’s a requiem — one part prophecy, one part possession — echoing through the veil between life and afterlife.

Time

a/jus/ted is the musical concept of veteran producer Justin Strauss and analog aficionado Teddy Stuart, better known as Eddie Mars. The pairs inaugural release comes in the form of "A brighter light" featuring the incandescent vocals of Jeremy Glenn for London based Under the shade records.

Although a relatively new pairing the due kick off life with a masterful original which moves through its earlier stripped analogue subtleties into an effervescent marauder. The gleaming arp hooks and Glenn's spritely soulful vocal are gradually joined by whacked out acid tinged licks punctuated by a bright billowy bass throughout all the while being lifted from the rousing pads. All in all achieving a track that sounds at once classic, yet unmistakably modern, file under "end of night". A real accomplishment for such a new outfit.

Adhering to the current trend for all things Jersey circa 90's is the Lars Vegas (more commonly known as one half of Detroit Swindle) remix. Going straight for the jugular with tight stabs and punchy percussion its manifesto is set out clear to see from the outset. What makes this different from the run of garage productions currently swamping the scene is its tight pairing with the vocals. Rather than chopping into a garbled nonsense, Glenn's vocals are allowed free reign and are used in there entirety to provide the extra musicality to move Vegas' remix into a standout weapon. Make no mistake this will destroy a dancefloor.

Rounding up a/jus/ted show there versatility by remixing themselves, weighing in with a track brimming with ideas. Murky pads align with the tightly sequenced percussion that percolates from the outset. Pushed on by sonorus pads and a relentless deep grueling bass which provides a pivot for the track to advance into a deep, hypnotic ensemble lifted by clips of vocal, this time sounding much more jaded than on the original. This would certainly be a gem dropped in the most smoke and strobe dens of the world!

If this form can be kept up then a/jus/ted have a very bright future ahead of them. Grab it now!!
