Will Hofbauer - Morning Dip (Beach Mix) (STW Premiere)

Jerry Unknown prepares their debut album after three standout EPs on their own Unknown Recs label. Weaving their distinct style into the record, Jerry Unknown’s first full-length shows a producer at the peak of their powers, with a unique collection of hazy, downtempo electronica on full display throughout. Leading the release, the mid-tempo ‘0 A’ sees skippy breaks and gliding chords take centre stage while the drifting pianos and spacious, lingering FX of ‘0 B’ follow suit. ‘0 C’ combines blissful leads, fast-paced drum work, and blossoming synths before the mid-album ‘0 D’ takes a sonic break with its ambient soundscapes and stretched-out pads. ‘0 E’, a downtempo, hip-hop inflected track, sees rumbling low end and bumping drums unfurl alongside emotive progressions, before the gentle percussion of ‘0 F’ arrives amongst floating synthesis and crackling soundscapes. Closing the release, ‘0 G’ delivers a final shot of elegant electronica to round out proceedings. “A lot of the Unkn0wn project was done in Oslo, Norway between production sessions. It was my first time in the city, and there was something very inspiring about the culture there. I don’t think I’ve visited anywhere where the temperament is as neutral and, for lack of a better word, “cold”. In my opinion, it feels a bit more natural and realistic.
