Solid Steel Radio Show 8/11/2013 Part 1 + 2 - Mr Armtone - Time Machine II

As has been well-documented elsewhere, I spent much of 2012-2014 doing DJ sets of other people's music (as opposed to strictly my own) for the first time since the 90s. I had so much fun hunting around on the internet, looking for the latest weird stuff to work into the set. I once heard a comedian describe their process, how they tried a new joke each night until eventually, they had a solid 75 minutes of their best material. That's how this set felt to me. 2013 was also the peak of EDM, and although I never fully embraced that movement, if you were a DJ, it was impossible not to be influenced by it on some levels. As a result, there's a few moments in the set that, years later, seem a little borderline in terms of an authentic personality fit..but I guess that's the dichotomy between immediacy and timelessness. I was playing with the Salzar Brothers Reason refill some time ago and developed this out a little bit.  Unfortunately, a lot of my Reason presets and sample libraries I used where completely lost.. I wanted to do more with this but perahps one day I will recover my old production files so I can restore progress.  Until then, I submit this track to the Soundcloud void.

play it fuckin' loud :D my first dubstep track...

since i kinda really pushed my creativity the last months (uploaded 5 songs in march), i didnt really know what to do next, so i tried some stuff, a new own track, another remix, but nothing worked. 

until Z1LCH (producer friend from portugal) sent me the remix stems from his track nebula. 
i heard the Arpeggiator melody, and made a quick intro with the vocals, and somehow.. it worked.

i tried a simple drop, and for the first time ever i decided to go dubstep drop first. 
(i seriously tried before, with some of my songs, but until now i always went the electro house way), ok the track is only half dubstep, but still i kinda feels like a dubstep track :D

also i tried with my friend Wolfgang, to add some metal guitar riffs, but the track was almost done at that point, and i didnt really manage to mix them in, so there are only 2 small guitar plucks, or better only 1, because i made a synth out of the other one. ^^

BUT, im thinking of doing part 2 from this remix, because it just sounded fucking awesome with the heavy guitar on top :D so stay in touch ;D

Z1LCH - Nebula (niKulo Remix)

the cheesy story,

Gottfried Steiner once had a complex chemical task to deal with. 
He spent weeks in his underground lab, trying to solve the complex formula which was slowing down his work so much. 
He often had nightmares about this  (*see other tracks), and was in a very bad shape. 
All his doctors told him so take it slow and work less, but simply couldn't.
He kept using substances that kept him awake for much too long taurin for example.

On what appeared to be the worst night of all, Gottfried was mad with rage and alcohol, desperately working on his science..
assomehow his niece  made it down to his laboratory (she apparently knew how to open the hidden entrance) .
She brought one of her famous Strudels,.. as Gottfried saw her he almost instantly had tears in his eyes, because he knew that they haven't seen each other in 6 months and it was his fault.

They didn't say a word, they both just sat down and shared the nieces delicious Strudel (aka der schöne Strudel, which originally was baked by steiners niece).

and simple as that, out of completely nothing, it happened,... 
after all those sleepless nights and days, dr. steiner finally had the genius unique idea that only the taste of a schöner strudel could give you...
gotfried immediately jumped,  threw his notes in the air, and hugged his niece. 
Both laughed and cried harder than ever before, and gottfried already started forgetting the past months of self doubting  horror. 

so it was der schöne Strudel that made Gottfried Steiner finally solve his problem. 
he stopped using taurin, stopped having marching nightmares and most importantly he started spending more time with his family and friends.

puh,.. so i had this track with the story already in the past summer (july i think).
its a short track, that may be part of the reason why i didnt wanna upload it 
i generally  never felt like releasing it, but i changed my mind.
  i reworked a lot, and it became sort of an experimental glitchy electro banger, and turns into an ultra cheesy bigroom house ending, just like the story. 

hope you like it, and don't worry thats not the last you've heard from Gottfried Steiner.
