BARK AT THE MOON

Made such a terrible noob mistake.  Had to work on the mix again when I realized the audio level for the left side was unbalanced with the right and the mix just felt weak.   Turned out that I forgot to switch off the -10 pad on the left side of the buss compressor.  Here it is again, the way it should be.

This is a short clip from TESTAMENT's "Disciples of the Watch" that I use as a testbed for miking and mixing.

For my students into metal and this being their first audio recording experience, I would get them to double track the rhythm guitars and let the results reveal, how tight or loose the rhythm playing is.
