I read an interesting article online where someone gave an amazing analogy for grief. It's like there's a box in your chest, with a little ball bouncing around inside and hitting a button that triggers emotional pain. When you are really having a tough time, it feels like the ball inside is ginormous, hitting the button constantly and it feels like there's nothing you can do to get past that emotional pain. But as time goes on, the ball gets smaller and smaller and the button doesn't get pushed as often. I think that is a great analogy for grief, as well as depression or PTSD.
