Kevin Speltz knows the weirder side of bass music. Knows it real well. So when he was putting together a remix album for his Sleep Helmet EP, he wrangled up a number of artists on the same tip. Duffrey out of Oakland is one of those oddballs. Messing with time signatures, tempos, and most of all, your inner ear, his remix of "Cursive on the Phone" is a downtempo gurgler with bleeps, bloops, and drips that will have you looking around your apartment. Chill beat stylings mix with sexy vocal coos. It's a tour de force of subtle dance music that gets lost in today's bang-your-head culture. But we were lucky enough to find it. And so were you. The Sleep Helmet Remixes drop November 19th on Street Ritual.

Atlas returns to Symbols to follow up their stunning 2012 debut Cities EP. Sophomore Sessions boasts a very deep and warm vibe from beginning to end. The time signature and beat switch up on Ashycan will definitely have you thinking. Monday Beats is a broken up garage session with tons of atmosphere and a catchy bassline. We hear vocalist Emily Harris really shine through on California amidst lots of bleeps, guitars and relaxed percussion. Glow wraps up the EP with a sauntering and slow four to the floor vibe.
