About this edit :
Samjazz Quintet is a traditional musical group, founded in 1968, consolidated since the 70s, one of the best groups in Curitiba. Hired by the Continental label, he recorded 4 Long Plays with good sales in Brazil and releases abroad.
In this theme Nega Neguinha, the group entered the growing influence of the Samba Rock style, which set fire to the dance floors at that time, but which was only recently released by an English label.
And I decided to do this remix to revive and show how many pearls we can still discover in this golden age that was 70 in Brazilian music.

About Sonorus
Bruno Lima a.k.a. Dj Sonorus is a music producer, musician and DJ working with music for the las 15 years, went to Barcelona - Spain in 2009 to finish his studies in Audio Engineering.
He set up his own recording studio in 2010 and since then he records and produces and records artists from all over the world in Estudio Sonoro.
As a DJ he mixes influences ranging from Hip Hop to World Music, Brazilian to Reggae, Electronic to Jazz, SoulGroove to Cumbia.
In each set that he does, he seeks to merge the influences of the past with what is current, to mix the rhythms of the world with the electronic and create an atmosphere that makes people dance and have fun with a musical environment full of joy and good vibes.

Afterclapp launches a hot new remix of "Nouvelles Vagues", a song by Barro and Juçara Marçal

The new version of the song that mixes French and Portuguese with an Afro-Brazilian beat will be released on September 10th, especially for those who love a dancefloor!

The reinterpretation of “Nouvelles Vagues” by Afterclapp follows the proposal of the homonymous movement of French cinema in the 60s: to recreate a version of an original in a non-linear montage.

Thus, the hit of the singer and composer from Recife, Barro, with the singer, composer and music researcher Juçara Marçal gains a new twist with the addition of heavier elements suited for the dance floor. The track from the 2016 album Miocárdio  talks about the impossibility of placing barriers on human beings' travels and mixes French and Portuguese in an engaging Afro-Brazilian beat, as the author explains:
“I wanted to explore in my solo work the Francophone that is in the countries of Africa, much from the Congo-Kinshasa heritage. And then I composed the song in this energy, looking for another approach to the French language, trying to make a relationship between the Afro-Brazilian sound that Juçara already explores very well and that is part of her music territory”, details the author.

The lyrics address migratory flows and carry a critique of xenophobia as opposed to the freedom to come and go across the globe. In the chorus "we go from here to there /
and we'll go to your house”.

Afterclapp mixed elements of Brazilian percussion with a fuller beat and modern bass line, with an orchestral twist, that fits perfectly in party sets and on the dance floor. Redefining the song to reach different audiences:
“Styles converge on Brazilian rhythms while exploring this very rich heritage of our musical culture. We need to explore more of these new approaches and blends”, explains the DJ.

Barro ft. Juçara Marçal - Nouvelles Vagues (Afterclapp Remix)

In this track, the cultural mix and the influences of Berlin's electronic scene meet the experimental rhythms of Brazil. The voice of Berliner artist Kotoe and the beats of Brazilian producer Meraki come together in this cover-style version of one of Brazil's most famous songs.

The remix was inspired by the song "Tic Tic Tac", a composition by Braulino Lima that became better known when it was released by the Amazonian group Carrapicho, becoming the number one hit in various parts of the world in 1996.

_Kotoe: @kotoek 
She was born in Japan, spent a great part of her life in Brazil and currently lives in Berlin. The cultural mix and the influences from the Berliner electronic scene are the result of her musical work where she takes textures from the Asiatic culture, South American sounds and mixes with dark beats and her own voice.

Her arrival in Berlin in 2015 made her fell in love with electronic music and to get involved and active in several collectives. Kotoe already presented herself in countries as: Japan, Chile, Germany, Croatia, Austria, Portugal and she was included in line ups from festivals such as Garbicz, Katzensprung, Moyn Moyn, Artlake and Melt.

Pedro Sugiura was born in Brazil and has his musical base inspired by the rich diversity of rhythms from his continent, always seeking to transmit this energy to the dance floors. Currently living in Amsterdam, Meraki has a unique identity and a very energetic sound.

The EP kicks off with "Babalú Ayé" which is a heavy house groove & jazzy synths with traditional Yoruban vocals in honor of Babalú-ayé (the Father of the Earth) who deals with infectious disease and healing. Inspired by Miriam Makeba's song "Ungakanani," "Mozambique" starts with South African vocalist Thando & gets the full percussive house treatment. Next up is "Dark Matter" which switches up the beats to a more UK broken beat & bass style, keeping it deep. Rounding off the EP, "Brazilian Blend" is reminiscent of the good old acid jazz days with a bossa beat, muted trumpet & lush keys.
