Building from the success of their first release - The Moon Rack Compilation, an album compiling a variety of diverse creative influences, with a central theme of fusing genres and exploring contrasting moods - the Bristol-based Moon Rack is back with its first EP courtesy of Leeds-based producer, OSH. 

Featuring four experimental productions Moon Rack have struck gold in OSH's 'Northern Lights' EP. Through a fusion of twisted percussive elements, ambient synths, exceptional vocal sampling and ferocious breaks, OSH has developed a highly unique production style which, in turn, provides one of the most exciting and ambitious releases we've heard in a while.

On this new EP on https://soundcloud.com/interceptrecords , https://soundcloud.com/french_ii explores a more emotive territory with opening track Time. The deep synth pad gives a warm contrast to the minimalistic beat and is floating organically throughout the 4-minute arrangement. Tracker completes the package and sounds more abstract. It’s a stripped-back track with expert beats, tribal percussion layers, coatings of sound fx, and a killer bassline. A strong, lush follow-up EP.

Leeds-based producer Dubrunner (@dubrunneruk) brings his debut release to Scuffed Recordings, with three new tracks firmly rooted in his soundsystem influences.

As a co-founder of Leeds’ notorious Stretchy Dance Supply parties and a staff member at Tribe Records, Dubrunner’s eclectic DJ sets reflect back into his productions, with house, breaks and electronic influences sitting alongside sounds from steppa dub and soundsystem culture.

The ‘Scorpio Season’ EP shows the spectrum of Dubrunner’s influences in full flow, with tracks ranging from the 140bpm stepper ‘Destination Unknown’, to the weighty breaks of the title track, to the wonky electronics and dubby chords of ‘Syntax Error’.

Dexorcist, aka South London’s Si Brown, has been at the forefront of the UK electro scene since the late 90s – running the seminal Control Tower label with Radioactive Man and producing as part of a number of collaborative projects alongside his solo releases, including as Kronos Device with Bass Junkie.

His ‘Rage Signal’ EP, the first vinyl release on Ecstasy Garage Disco (following digital releases from LMajor and BufoBufo), journeys further back into his musical roots, combining his trademark industrial-strength aesthetic with elements of dub, bleep and hardcore.

‘Rage Signal’ starts the dance, blending rave whoops, slamming breaks, acerbic hoovers and vintage sci-fi samples for a track heavily championed by Local Group, the duo label boss Corporeal Face is part of. The searing bass, booming 808s and urgent bleeps of ‘Centurion’ then underline its gravelly vocal, which aptly attests to the roughness of the 21st century.

‘Don’t Come Cryin’ is another huge slice of thumping 140bpm rave-inspired breaks, Britcore vocals and urgent, winding melody adding chaotic force to the bass and stab lead. ‘Jah’s Comin’ closes out, a prophetic vocal, hefty sub, dubbed out horns and turntablist scratching heralding his arrival – while also signing off an EP that unites electro’s bass weight with the undying energy of rave’s early days.
