Glasgow based Secluded drops another two Techno monsters on Soma backed by a hypnotic remix from up and coming Portuguese producer Lewis Fautzi.

Delusional starts things of with a bang as Secluded’s big and bashy drums roll out to subtly filtered stabs that ring through into a direct outburst of percussion. Things get a little deeper as we progress, big builds and drops are broken up with a fine tuned pad that swarms through the backbone. A typical monster opener from Secluded.

Sympathy is no less of a monster. Secluded tactfully brings the elements out in this track as a punchy drum sequence roars underneath a percussive synth hook, slowly peaking and thundering back in with intent with each drop. 

Lewis Fautzi turns in a suitably hypnotic version of Delusional as he loops out the original’s mains hook and drives a more ethereal, haunting pad line underneath. Fautzi creates real tension with small drum fills and tough percussive work.

Secluded drops yet another tough EP in only the way he can.

It’s time, once again, to get into the MOOD. Our driver for the label’s latest shady soiree is the boss herself: Nicole Moudaber.

Currently cruising on the trip of her life (literally – she’s just passed her race driver test), Nicole is wrapping up 2015 at unfathomable speeds right now. Fresh from her legendary ‘Breed’ collaborations with Skin and remixing Pan Pot, Scuba and recently Black Asteroid all within the last three months, Nicole unleashes her first solo triple-tracker in a long time…

‘Silent Sigh’ commences the adventure with an unhurried build as each bar sees a new space age texture wrapping around her stoic kicks. Gradually the elements disappear until all you can see, feel and hear is black. Stark designs twist through the ether from left to right then boom: an even darker, sub-laden kick pressure ignites from nowhere. Trust us, this will do more than make your dancefloor sigh…

We proceed with intimacy as Nicole persuades us to ‘Move A Little Closer’. The beats underpin her whispers and do well to magnetise, but it’s the gradual ice blast pads that really allure. Building and building with ageless progression, the big pay-off comes with one of the most delicious, almost cosmic, breakdowns Nicole has ever crafted.

MOOD now fully established, ‘Own’ has the honour of closing the show. Relentless kicks and a scratchy snare paint the backdrop for bold splashes of colour as eastern vocals ghost through the spectrum weaving mystically around Nicole’s signature insistent percussive dynamics, escalating into shamanic oblivion.

Wigbert had us Dancing In The Dark Room back in October of last year and makes a quick SCI+TEC return with his latest release ‘Urban Noise’.

Having already explored many musical paths in his career, Wigbert’s current sound is an impressive amalgamation of all that has come before, matched with a tougher, more driving dancefloor delivery. 

The German’s latest four track collection sees him present the gentle and yet electrifyingly ‘Unknown Intro’, a perfect set opener for all.  We’re treated to the intense acidic groove of the title track and are them ramped up further still with the twisted 
sounds of 'Moog Mood’, before a full throttle finalé with the tribal touch and thumping drums of the excellent 'Back To FFM’. 

Another excellent offering from Wigbert and further proof as to why he’s such a firm SCI+TEC favourite.

Gesaffelstein's tracks have already received support from James Holden, Chloé, Damian Lazarus, and Laurent Garnier, to name a few, and this record is without a doubt his best yet. Every track on 'Variations' is a battle-tested bomb. 

His sound is clearly influenced by New Wave and the Gigolo-era electro (2001-2) of fellow Frenchmen The Hacker and David Carretta, but it sounds like a fresh update rather than pastiche, revitalized and refined down to a modern and versatile core. These tracks work in Tiga's festival sets alongside some of the summer's biggest anthems, yet are equally at home in a more underground setting, e.g. Von Party's 5am warm-up before Ivan Smagghe at a London warehouse party. 

The title track has the most attitude, establishing a palette of dark staccato basslines, crunching hi-hats, hands-in-the-air cowbells and trippy synth leads. “Selected Faces” and “Atmosphere” are arguably even more straightforward club weapons, their breakdowns creating just enough 'insanity' without getting annoying, their grooves dropping back in with a cool, restrained power that will win over hiss-weary DJs. 

With remixes upcoming for Turbo and Institubes, a follow-up EP for Turbo in the works... if you want an idea as to how big Gesaffelstein will get this year, just think of him as 'Brodinkelstein.'
