For this year’s World Mental Health Day, we at Orphan. Records have asked 14 musicians to contribute to a charity compilation in aid of the Child Mind Institute in New York.

In addition to curating this track list, we have asked each participant to share a little about their own experiences with mental health issues and their pursuit of music. With both the release and our accompanying article, we hope to shed light on an issue we feel very passionate about in attempts to spark conversations in our industry and beyond and raise money for a charity doing incredibly important work.

We chose to benefit Child Mind because we feel that the next generation of musicians deserves to be better equipped to handle the day to day struggles of mental health issues.

Under his Xr/spool: moniker Michelangelo Perrone enjoys the exploration of unknown territories in which forces of the universe interact with time and space in order to distort reality. 
The notion of constrast is essential to capture the meaning of "Void Lands", a distant world  in which the beauty of nature is closely linked to its brutality and both of those merge in a pleasant agitation. 
This chimera is translated into music thanks to wild but mastered interactions through which powerful polyrithmia stands against hypnotic samples, mostly issued from the artist's personnal field recordings. 
For his first album, Xr/spool: paints a dark and mysterious canvas that invites us to pay more attention to the smallest details that may help us to grasp the complexity of this new world we're in.
