released on clairos bandcamp April 1, 2023 which hasn’t been updated in 7 years until today and all proceeds will be split between the non-profits For The Gworls and Everytown. 

For The Gworls raises money to “assist with Black trans folks’ rent and affirmative surgeries” while Everytown “are a movement of parents, students, survivors, educators, gun owners & concerned citizens fighting to end gun violence and build safer communities.”

This is one of my favourites from when I was young; it has that rare mix of hope and grit; like someone trying to pull the light back into the room. I have always loved how it lifts without pretending everything is fine; and how the melody feels like it is reaching for something better.

I kept this version simple on purpose; just voice and piano; no production tricks; letting the words and the movement of the chords do the work. If you grew up with this era; or you just want a quiet late night cover to sit with on headphones; I hope this lands softly.
