Starting to make music many years ago in Vienna as a performance artist, she now is making herself a name in Berlin club culture with a versatile sound and well thought out DJ sets. Taipei-born DJ Kaytseng shares a psychedelic podcast for us this week. Wavey melodies, sleek drums and high-speed trance rhythms pulsate throughout, evoking a mesmerising aural experience. Based in Naarm, Kay has soundtracked local spots Colour, 24 Moons, Bourke Street Courtyard and many more, supporting artists like Mama Snake, DJ Spit and Schacke along the way. Previous mixes for CRUDE and Boiler Room have allowed her to reach a European audience too. While Kaytseng’s sound is typically fast and trippy, she peppers her mixes with soft vocals and pearlescent soundscapes, striking the perfect balance between brutal and hypnotizing moods. Watch out for Kaytseng this year—we’re sure you’ll hear much more from this talented selector.
