OLAM PRESENTS - Morah. 

Introduced at an early age to electronic music, Morah aged 16, started DJing and using music softwares working on sound design, collecting money to finally buy his first synth at 19 when he started experimenting with sounds. His debut release “Route” was on Helena Hauff's Return To Disorder label. 

Morah has his music ideology united different kinds of music as means of expression a notable inclination on experimental leftfield soundscapes and 80s indrustrial. His sets cover a wide range of the electronic music fasma. Vintage synth textures of dark wave and synth pop merge with industrial, techno,  post punk  and electro beats which moving easily and creating a ritualistic pathway all the way till catharsis.

He has released music on labels of Return To Disorder, Suction Records,  Berceuse Heroique, Vanila, June, Brokntoys, Lux Rec, Dark Entries, Fleisch,  Tresor Kern Compilation, Clan Destine, Among.

Darko Kolar 
(Katran, Jezgro, Ontal)

Katran is the main solo project of Darko Kolar, who is also one half of the Ontal (alongside with Boris Brenecki), and he is also part of Impuls Controls (a project of Ontal and Blush Response). 
Darko Kolar is also the founder of Jezgro label and Ontal Series.

Darko's residence is up on the north of Serbia in the city of Subotica. His musical career started in 2005. under Dekode moniker. He passionately started to collect records and slowly to produce music. Soon enough hi started to release music on different labels alongside with the names such as Si Begg, 
Radioactiveman, Sillicon Scally, Scape One and more. Even until today he plays some of that old electro, breakbeat, IDM stuff  that may be forgotten. 

The year of 2011. was one of the most important years in his musical career. Ever since forming Ontal his musical career advanced. With Ontal being recognized amongst leading industrial techno/experimental names on the world scene, Darko has developed a new way of expressing himself through Katran project. He puts all of his creative force and energy into his music, so the stuff that he creates as Katran is dark, rough and intensive, always in a constant change.

In 2016 Darko launched a label called Jezgro. The first release was by MRTVI, on of the Huren's pseudonym and with additional remix by Violet Poison. The second release came out in 2017, created by the master of noise music - Merzbow. The main focus of the label is to represent more obscure, dark and unstructured parts of the electronic music. Crucial aesthetical core of the label are genres such as 
harsh noise, industrial techno, drone, off beat techno, rhythmic noise, ambiental and similar styles.

Stojche Cvetanovski (born in 1984 in Skopje, Macedonia) is just a regular rebel trapped in the urban chaos of the 21st century. The trigger factor that inspired him, was the local underground techno scene in Skopje. A city described by Derrick May and Juan Atkins as “the leading hub for Detroit techno on the Balkan Peninsula”. The expansion of the motor city sounds in the Macedonian capital and his mania for vinyl records triggered Stojche to explore his path and dig deeper in this futuristic music phenomenon. After a decade devoted to djing, he shifted to producing, and in 2009 he co-founded “Argumento Music”.

He is one of the names on the European circuit that broke through with contributions to labels like A.r.t.less, DMK, Conform, Subwax, Grounded in Humanity, Sounds Benefit, Freund Der Familie alongside others. In 2011 he launched his solo imprint “Tangible Assets”. An outlet that has given him the freedom to explore and refine his trademark Detroit – influenced dubbed out productions. “Tangible Assets” reflects a personal statement with emphasized appreciation for the techno history. His discography marked him as one of the names that is still pushing forward the timeless envelope of the initial “hi-tech soul” legacy.

In contrast, his dj sets provide further evidence of years spent behind the turntables, resulting in pounding journeys with a dose of emotional content. His constant pursuit for inspiration sits balanced with the pulse of the city life. Locked away in his studio in Berlin where passion and process all catalyze into waveforms of intense voyages, executed by a man who is well in tune with his craft.

Vesnu has been creating spaces of freedom for the Slovak queer community in Bratislava for over 10 years now. He's the mother of the legendary Tepláreň party, which later transformed into the iconic queer-friendly bar. Passionately organized club nights have become a staple on the Slovak dance scene, with queer parties such as Homomat and Shame, to name a few.  As a DJ, he found his home ground in these events. Vesnu is a digital shaman who yearns for people to meet their true selves on the dance floor, as well as meeting each other. With his hypnotic beats he overcomes distances, and his playful sets with unexpected twists remind us that everything is here and now. He likes to venture from techno to house, and even to disco. He enjoys both the ecstasy of the night and the morning tenderness. Audiences in most of the domestic clubs have been entertained to the fullest, but Vesnu has performed at festivals such as Grape in Slovakia, Sziget in Hungary, and Rote Dichte in Germany too. He also had the chance to play several sets for the Berliner Betriebsfeier party or the Berliner release of Daddy Issues. He also played at Homostash in London and in the club Bukanýr in Prague.

The basic harmony of the heart is energy. If you look around for creative minds in the German techno scene, you will quickly come across the name Lydia Eisenblätter. With her energetic, analogue, straight sound, she had a striking reflection of her personality pressed on vinyl, founded her own label and released exciting records.With her label OAM she showed courage and the right feeling for good sound, which is reflected in her worldwide collaborations. During her gigs, Lydia exudes an authentic mixture of honest, heartfelt basic harmony and dynamic, uneven, rough edges of her personality, which make their way onto the dance floor in the form of driving tracks.

In her own releases you will find very personal elements of her soul, which, like the fragments of a disco ball, she knows how to combine into a beaming something. Her unique style has been able to develop over many years and numerous well-known personalities from the techno scene have been her companions and sponsors. After her studio in Leipzig has become her second home, it is not surprising that she will release new records in 2022. The next EP of Lydia will be the third [OAM] on 25th of march.

Sofia Nøt was heavily involved in the Bratislava hardcore punk scene from a young age. Apart of organising a number of concerts, she played bass guitar in several important bands, while performing concerts in several European countries. In addition to hardcore punk, she was also interested in electronics from a young age which lead to start producing music. In 2019, she started publishing her first singles and music videos under the project IAmNøt. In production, she likes to use bent and straight beats, into which she likes to mix predominantly darker atmospheres of the industrial genre. She adapts her DJ sets to her productions, so we can find genres such as techno, breakbeat, or post-punk in them. IAmNøt's debut album will be released in a few weeks in September on vinyl, under the labels Urbsounds and Haluzeum Produkt.

Carlos GrabStein, DJ & electronic music producer was born and raised in Mexico City. “Italian-born, Prague-based DJ Ester started her music journey in 2018 when she introduced herself with her first DJ set in her hometown. Since then she brings us a long, dark, escalating journey through her performance mainly inspired by the sounds of electronic body music, industrial and post-punk. You can also hear the influence of the Belgian new beat in her sets which is a big part of her selection.
In 2020 she joined the Prague audiovisual collective Organizovaný Plevel which became a second family to her. Together they started organizing parties called „SLET“ which focuses on bringing the collective’s favorite artists, showcasing them to the local public, and sharing their love for music with others.

Ester is also half of a duo Cursed Soil which she created with C4AT. After playing so many back-to-backs together and sharing a love for melancholic and harsh tunes, they decided that it would be the best option and since then they also started working on their music. But there are no borders in her music selection, you can also hear her play dark-ambient and oriental stuff that fill the gaps of silence in her life daily. ”

Phase Fatale is the Berlin-based techno project of Hayden Payne. Since 2014 the New York native has earned a reputation as a techno innovator, both for the broad spectrum of dystopian, gritty, industrial-laden electronics included in DJ sets as well as his deep understanding of synthesis and sound design in his own productions.

Phase Fatale has been turning heads with his debut album in 2017, and 12”s on labels such as Jealous God, Ostgut Ton, and its sub-label unterton. He has since settled into residencies at both Berghain in Berlin as well as 中 KHIDI in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.

In 2018, Payne launched his own label BITE, where he introduced Soft Crash - the pi- oneering ‘Italo body music’ project in collaboration with Pablo Bozzi. In 2020, Payne released his second solo album Scanning Backwards on Ostgut Ton, while 2022 saw his third solo album and the widely anticipated debut album by Soft Crash.

Phase Fatale’s output as a selector, as well as his productions and curation on BITE demonstrate Payne’s unique musical vision, drawing from new and classic references: dark ambient drones contrasting with the raw, punchy dynamics of industrial and post- punk, cold wave aesthetics combine with 4/4 techno functionality – all stitched togeth- er meticulously with strong atmospheric sensibilities, careful and precise mixing

His career took root in the realm of hip-hop back in 1990. In 1993, he made a notable appearance at the DMC World DJ Championships in London. His journey as a DJ flourished as he partnered with the dynamic hip-hop duo Trosky, showcasing his skills behind the turntables.

From the very beginning, he played a central role in cultivating and nurturing the Slovak drum and bass (dnb) scene, founder of Drumatique, Slovakia's foremost dnb crew, his influential contributions have left an indelible mark, establishing an enduring presence within the community that persists to this day.

In 2008, he released a captivating track titled "Goodnight" in collaboration with Morebeat on the prestigious Dutch label Fokuz LTD. This release was followed by an exceptional remix from the talented New Zealand producer, Dose. A year later, he teamed up with DJ Smote for another impressive release titled "Slowly Down" on Midnight Records.

For our seventy-first episode of the OLAM podcast series, we present 'Man + Machine,' the musical project of Daniel Ágoston, Hungarian DJ, producer, music selector and writer, who was born in the ‘80s, and early got addicted to post-industrialism, cyberpunk and futurism. With an artistic line inspired by darkness and intense emotions, his music can be described as a blend of the sounds of love and death, the sense of joy and rage.

He is also involved in a live, hybrid performance of "Man + Machine" on stage, alongside co-producer and collaborator Barnabas Horvath, also known as Barnsz. The Men + Machine live/hybrid project takes a slightly different musical direction than what the audience has come to know from the solo DJ sets. Mogano, the moniker of Marco Berardi, an Italian-born and Berlin-based electronic music producer. In 2013, he founded Arboretum, an electronic music imprint that focuses on sound and visual art experimentations. His sonic approach involves re-processing traditional musical instruments into cinematic soundscapes and gritty polyrhythmic drum textures.

After making his debut in 2015 with the 'Sycomore EP' on Arboretum, Mogano's music has found a home on labels such as Voidance Records, Liber Null, and L_Klangkunst Werk, where he contributed a remix for the Indonesian duo Senyawa. Knaughty is a project by Kvachi, a multimedia artist born and raised in Tbilisi, Georgia, and currently a resident of the KHIDI club. Born into a family with a strong musical background, Kvachi's connection to music traces back to their earliest years, particularly during the dynamic era of the 1990s. Over the years, Kvachi has been collecting music and has evolved into a DJ, expressing their inspirations and visions through mixing. The essence of Knaughty as a project lies in its embrace of musical diversity.

In 2017, they first joined KHIDI club as a graphic designer, bringing their creative skills to the visual aspects of the club's identity and promotions. Their passion for music soon became noticeable as they began to showcase their talent in DJing. Through their dedication and musical abilities, Knaughty became a resident DJ at KHIDI club. Atomal, DJ based in Bratislava, Slovakia, and the guy behind Grão. After more than 15 years of being driven by infinite inspiration from all shades of music, he decided to use all this experience to create a new, totally free persona. 

Leaving all labels and genres behind and focusing only on the freedom of expression, he started his own club night called AMEN - "a journey through a holy fairyland". Unhuman is the Berlin-based electronic and experimental project of Manos Simotas. 

He is also the founder of Liber Null Berlin, which has played a critical role of unifying the freedom of arts in a conceptual event in the scene and also operates as a record label. Expanding beyond Berlin, Liber Null held events with performance arts and music all around the world including Athens, Paris, Tokyo, Seoul and beyond. 

Unhuman started in 2012 in Athens with his first release "Emperor Black" on tape, he evolved through different genres ultimately finding his own unique voice in experimental and dark electronics. Keeping his root in post-punk, Unhuman released on labels such as Instruments Of Discipline, Veleno Viola, BITE, Amok Tapes and Strange Therapy. A regular mainstay of major clubs in Berlin, Unhuman has performed all around Europe, Asia and South America and holds the artist in residency at Constant Value in Seoul, South Korea.
