CHIMEHOURS 'Underneath The Earth' CD / LP / Ltd LP - out 24th October 2025

"Underneath The Earth" is the debut album from Chimehours; a hauntological music project for the dislocated present day. Taking inspiration from Max Porter's novel "Lanny", the album digs into themes of nature, myth and community, with an edge of folk-horror.

Drones, drums and gritty guitars are juxtaposed with woodwind, strings and ethereal song. Written and produced between Derbyshire, London and Margate, the album takes musical influence from the likes of Liz Fraser, Broadcast, Beth Gibbons, Bibio and Jóhann Jóhannsson, and atmospheric cues from The Wickerman, The Fog, and Enys Men.

Chimehours is a collaboration between Beck Goldsmith and Jon Dix. The pair have previously performed in bands together and composed music for award-winning film and television. They conjured up this foray into cinematic, horror-flecked contemporary-folk to explore their love of the supernatural and the other-than-human.

Chimehours raid the vaults of 70's British cinema and trad folk soundscapes to riff on contemporary anxieties and ecological yearning. The result is a collection of all things earthy, exquisite and grotesque.

CHIMEHOURS Underneath The Earth

Forged in the fires of Spain’s underground, DAYOFWRATH unleashed their uncompromising vision with the limited cassette release of And The World Will Perish In Flames via Cloister Recordings in 2021. With its raw aggression, suffocating atmosphere, and apocalyptic intensity, the album quickly became a coveted cult artifact.

This new CD edition preserves the original spirit, unrelenting, furious, and bleak, while opening the door to a wider audience. Its presence within the Cyclic Law catalogue feels inevitable: a work steeped in darkness, aggression, and ritualistic weight, standing shoulder to shoulder with the label’s most uncompromising offerings.

Drawing inspiration from age-old eschatological themes and apocalyptic prophecy, And The World Will Perish In Flames delivers an immersive sonic journey that evokes the biblical "Day of Wrath"—a time when, as legend foretells, the world will be consumed by fire and reborn from the ashes. This release, the 254th cycle in the artist’s evolving saga, encapsulates cosmic judgment, oblivion, and the fragile impermanence of civilization.

And The World Will Perish In Flames is a descent into pure Black Industrial, raw, hostile, and apocalyptic. With its relentless riffing, cavernous atmospheres, and urgent ferocity, the album channels a vision of absolute destruction. American Dark Ambient sound sculptor AJNA returns with his latest full-length work, New Revelations of Being, an eleven-track descent into the abyss of human psyche and metaphysical dread. Following his acclaimed Cyclic Law releases, this new opus draws direct inspiration from the fevered writings of Antonin Artaud’s Artaud 1937 Apocalypse.

With New Revelations of Being, AJNA channels Artaud’s fragmented visions of destruction, renewal, and transcendence through a vast palette of subterranean drones, spectral resonances, and suffocating atmospherics. Each track unfolds like a psychic document, blurring the line between revelation and delirium, guiding the listener into haunted states where words dissolve into vibration and consciousness is unmoored from form.

At once oppressive and illuminating, the album furthers AJNA’s ongoing exploration of the boundaries of perception, death, and rebirth. Dense textures coil and fracture into hidden harmonics, mirroring Artaud’s own descent into madness as a vessel for ecstatic truth.

A Dark Ambient Descent Into Collective Fear and Trauma

When war erupted in Ukraine, French sound sculptor Lambwool found himself overtaken by an overwhelming surge of fear and anxiety. The escalating threat of nuclear disaster, the looming specter of global conflict, and the harrowing imagery of destruction awakened in him a long-buried childhood trauma: the paralyzing terror of an impending apocalypse.
For ten days following the outbreak of war, Lambwool was engulfed in a state of absolute panic. Searching for a way to purge these suffocating emotions, he turned instinctively to sound. What began as a means of survival evolved into a profound work of catharsis: a sonic exorcism of dread, helplessness, and darkness.
The result is Lambwool’s most uncompromisingly Dark Ambient album to date, an unflinching meditation on fear, despair, and the crushing weight of history in motion. Every texture, drone, and resonance draws directly from that psychic landscape of anxiety, immersing the listener in a haunting soundworld that reflects both personal and collective trauma.

Integral to the album’s construction are authentic field recordings taken from news reports and journalistic coverage of the conflict in Ukraine. These are not abstracted samples, but raw sonic fragments, captured on the ground amidst devastation, that bring an immediacy and documentary presence to the work. Bombarded buildings, human voices, the echoes of conflict: these elements blur the line between sound art and testimony, making the album both a deeply personal expression and an unsettling historical document.

The artwork mirrors the sonic and emotional core of the album, envisioned in stark black and white tones or desaturated greys. Images of bombed-out structures, ideally drawn from actual photographs of Ukraine, anchor the album visually in the same reality from which the sounds emerged. This cohesion between concept, sound, and imagery completes Lambwool’s immersive statement.

With a career spanning atmospheric soundscapes and ethereal experimentation, Lambwool has always sought to explore the liminal space between beauty and darkness. This latest work pushes further into uncharted depths, stripping away light to confront the terror of our times head-on. It is not merely an album, but a document of psychic survival, an artistic gesture born from fear and transformed into sound.

Their output has largely been concerned with diverse taboo topics such as fetishism, alcoholism, pornography and necrophilia and is of a nihilistic and absurd nature. Their rare live shows straddle the line between music and performance art, influenced and inseminated by performers such as Throbbing Gristle, Richard Youngs, Neil Campbell and Hugh Metcalfe. Professionally remastered from the original Ampex 456 reels recorded in 1990/1991 respectively, the current 2CD edition pays homage to one of the most bizarre and unconventional projects in the counterculture. Classical glossy white 4-panel Digipak with a special booklet inside preserving all the provocative and disturbing pictures of the original vinyls released two decades ago via Tesco and Stinky Horse Fuck labels.
