A compilation of sound effects suitable for inclusion within my UDK level

Games Design FD Audio for Games Sound Effects

Another sound effect created whilst playing around with my guitar. This one was created by strumming on the chords lightly with a penny. I then brought it into Audition and played with the attenuation and effect to give a bubbly warm noise. This is then placed into UDK as an ambient sound so that you can walk past it and the sound plays. 

Bubbling Observation Tanks Sound Effect

By far the sound effect I am most impressed with. The main droning mechanic noise is a real world compactor in work that I recorded. Then adjusted the effect and added another sound over the top. This is the alarm that was created by me moving the guitar cable from side to side on the rim of my guitar. I had several different effects for the door and the alarm but I chose to combine these two as the compactor noise had the most weight to it, and the other alarms that i made were created by strumming and didn't have the same tone.

Quite happy with how this sound turned out. Again created by walking in my heavy boots. I have tested this in UDK but the problem is it is very quiet in the game. I would need to increase the decibels for the player to be able to hear it properly. I added the echo effect in Adobe Audition as I felt the same of the room would warrant an echo as the player navigates the level. If I had the time I would have made several different sounds dependent on the type of surface that the player is walking on ie. Glass/Metal/Wood etc. 

Footsteps Sound Effect

This effect is another real world recording of the goods lift in work. I chose this sound as it didn't have as much weight as the compactor noises, this was because I didn't think it would sound right because the door is bigger than the generator that this sound is attached to. I brought this sound into Audition and added a drop off so it sounds like the generator is starting and then the motor is winding down. 

Generator Sound Effect

Quite a quick simple effect. Created using my heavy goth boots to give a sense of weight. I have recently learn't how to add this to my UDK level and have tested it. It is a very quick sound so the downside is you have to listen to it several times to really appreciate it. 

Jumping Sound Effect

The beginnings of the action soundtrack for my level. Feels like it adds urgency as it is fast paced and moves the player towards the action. Hope to add more to it in the future.
