We were very excited to host Exist Palestine, who hold their first-ever Berlin event at Oona Bar, Weserstr. 166 on Saturday, August 20th.

Exist is a festival and event series founded in Palestine, with the aim of building bridges between artists, musicians, DJs and curators from Palestine and across the globe. Its broad, transnational family are united in a desire to use art to impact their environments in critical ways, and through their engagement with anti-colonialism in the context of Palestine and beyond.

Exist Festival’s event at Refuge Worldwide will include DJ sets by Exist extended family members Ciarra Black, Dirar Kalash, Falyakon, Kujo, Oldyungmayn, Sainte Marina, No Plastic and the festival's co-founders Odai Masri and Bint Mbareh. 

There will also be two installations on-site at Oona: an audiovisual installation by Sarah Risheq titled if_the_archive_could_speak, exploring Palestinian physical and mental archives; and a sound piece by Dirar Kalash called To Exist In Sound, which draws from audio recordings of the 1948 Nakba and 1967 Naksa.

frivolousscan has been a consistent part of the BIT family since playing a set with Brendan Arnott at our second lake rave in 2021. But at our first DJ campout last September, a corrupted drive precluded his contribution to the open decks. It was tragic, so this year we were determined to make things right. Khary more than made up for that built-up anticipation with this high-energy set on the Saturday night of Best Out Of Town Year 2. As the BPMs climbed higher, the skies opened up and the dancefloor filled with dancers escaping the rain. In that moment our community coalesced and thrived to frivolousscan's bouncing beat. It was a beautiful sight.

Born in the Bronx and based in Brooklyn, Jasmine Infiniti’s sound is a mesh of underground styles that New York City artists have long-shaped. Her DJ sets and original music oscillates between ballroom, hip-hop, house, industrial and techno; racing between fury and euphoria to create cathartic moments. Take her 2020 debut album ‘BXTCH SLÄP’, which roars into life with the formidable ‘Bxtch Släp — Queen Of Hell’. It’s a thrill-ride in track form, built with the kind of white-knuckle intensity that’ll send your stomach into somersaults. That’s until a hint of something calmer, more forlorn, seeps through — only for the next track to start and the whole ride to begin again. Her uncompromising DJ sets also fuse motifs picked up at pivotal points in her story. She’s brought all of that together into New World Dysorder, a club night, artist collective and, most recently, record label.
