Responsible for some of electronic music’s most enduring classics, including the seminal ‘Higher States of Consciousness’, ‘Don’t Laugh’ and ‘How's Your Evening So Far?’, the Ovum Recordings boss and clubland luminary readies his first solo effort for Radio Slave’s Rekids this January. Turning in a standout EP featuring two tracks on the vinyl and a digital bonus, the US-based DJ/producer furthers his position as one of dance music’s most lauded acts.

Leading the release, ‘Detroit Stab’ kicks off the A-side with hypnotic stabs and rigid, pumping drums progressing into an ethereal breakdown provided by hazy, floating pads. On the flip, ‘May Minimal’ sees Wink toy with rolling FM tones, modulating automation, and glistening synths. Accompanying the 12” is the digital-only ‘May Minimal (String Free)’, which strips the B-side of the strings, offering a welcome addition to USB sticks worldwide.

DASCO is a hurricane force with recent roots in Berlin, active for the past decade and packing as strong a punch today as she ever has. That’s as true of her music as it is her persona. She has the kind of rare, contagious energy that’s capable of setting dancefloors ablaze: animated, celebratory and full of joie de vivre. As DJ, she draws from the wells of Chicago house and UR, as much as 90s UK rave: dispatching rhythms from the booths at Tresor, Panorama Bar, RSO, Bristol’s Motion and many more. As producer, she’s released records on the likes of Shall Not Fade and pushed her own vision via her recently launched Bisexuality Exists imprint (2022). Catchy name and it serves a purpose. Through her music, DASCO wants to lift people up, that includes people like herself who identify as bisexual and see a frequent tendency towards bi erasure: ‘With the label, I would like to show the world that music - like life - is rarely ever black or white.’ The label’s first release was the acid influenced Get High With Me, featuring her own vocals and a slew of punchy 90s beats - an attempt to bottle the feeling of dancefloor rapture that washes over a crowd every time she plays. She’s here again spreading love and positive vibes for Bassiani Podcast 201. An irresistibly dancy studio mix, an hour of poker-hot tunes for late hour dreamers from this incomparable musical talent.

Agrio Tracks maiden release comes from everybody's favourite new producer Kyle Starkey. His tracks, blending signature 90's percussion with stabby rubber basslines, have been taking the house scene by storm recently. Being on high rotation in sets of artists like Job Jobse, THC and Jennifer Cardini has made it hard to have missed his tracks, even though you might not have known it at the time.

Storming the gates is Tryton, leaning heavily on sharp lead stabs that will be stuck in your brain like a true ear worm from way back then, creating the perfect glue between the worlds of house, trance and prog. However, while it does have a strong hint of nostalgia, you can't help but notice a distinct touch of freshness lying on top of it.

Whereas Tryton will please the peak time crowd, I Need U has the perfect filler features, while still making an impact on its own. The track subtlety balances old school vocal hooks and shouts with recognisable and simple synth melodies. If you are looking for the perfect assist to kickstart your night, this is it.
