Presenting their first ever collaborative project, Elias Erium and Monarke land on Phenomena with ‘Transcend’. Canadian artist and Phenomena label boss Elias Erium has enjoyed a triumphant return this year. Projects for Eleatics subsidiary Aletheia Recordings and long-standing Berlin imprint Steyoyoke set the stage for three well-received Phenomena EPs, with tastemaker favorites John Digweed, Mind Against and more being steadfast supporters along the way. Meanwhile, fellow Canadian artist Monarke has also had a remarkable year. A contribution to Atlant’s popular Voyager III collection was preceded by a string of releases for Steyoyoke, along with remix projects for Opengate Society and Us & Them. Now pairing for the first time, Eilas and Monarke combine their extensive forces on the much anticipated ‘Transcend’. 

Pitched somewhere comfortably between shadowy monochromes and wintry hinterlands, its warm machine gun style groove and flickering percussive arrangements marry perfectly with percolating effects and prophetic arps. Coming to full fruition during the second act, the duo’s creative attitude is on full display, as striking chord stabs emerge, conjuring up prophetic imagery, while remaining undeniably infectious against a backdrop of shapeshifting textures and balmy overlays, onwards to a spirited finale. Equally at home above a festival skyline or sitting in the sweet spot of a main room set, its deeper design and thought-provoking atmospherics provide a much-needed dance floor curveball for the more adventurous selectors out there.

As Solid Stone proudly became the first artist responsible for a full album on Coldharbour Recordings through the release of Introspection, one track in particular captured the immediate and long-lasting attention of fans worldwide - the dark yet touching Heart Call. 

A familiar collaborative voice on previous Solid Stone compositions, his good friend Jennifer Rene shines through the emotions behind the words, with many citing the piece as a contender for track of 2016. Phenomena ushers in the Summer season with a highly anticipated EP from label boss Solid Stone. 2019 has seen the Canadian artist release two of melodic techno’s most widely acclaimed and sought after EP’s in ‘Monsoon’ and ‘Ritual’. The two track offerings yielded play and support from his most revered contemporaries, namely Adriatique, Tale Of Us and Sasha. Resounding chart success followed, with the latter earning an extended stay in Beatport’s Top 100 sales, along with being selected as one of June’s best new Progressive House releases. Now with the summer festival season about to kick off, Solid Stone returns to Phenomena with the two track artist showcase ‘Black Market’. 

With over a decade of production credits, Solid Stone has continued to flourish. Sitting comfortably in electronic music’s elite, the Canadian artist continues his story with the moody ‘Black Market’. Following a prelude of stark beats and dubbed out tones, comes fiery percussion and ghostly meanderings.  As the atmospheric narrative continues to build tension into the break, meditative arps descend over flurries of drums, before devilish stabs pierce the air, sparking a rousing finale. Tastefully minimal yet abundantly powerful, this is a production designed for a big cavernous room. 

Perhaps an ideal complement to its predecessor are the tranquil tech-vibes of ‘Hidden Agenda’. Hypnotic and fluid, the pulsating framework gets adorned with hazy atmospheres, smooth rhythmic artefacts and a deadly hypnotic arp. It’s seductive presence quickly becomes intoxicating, as smooth chord changes spark an emotional response, before a tension filled drum roll transfers energy into an evocative final act. 

In a year that has seen Solid Stone already craft some of his most memorable work to date, he is never content with resting on his laurels, carving out two more unforgettable sonic moments with the ‘Black Market’ EP.
