Terribly True

I believe that within us all lie demons and angels. Not one person is ever purely good or evil. We hold the equal capacity for both manevolence and benevolence. Every waking moment of our days we have the choice between a little slice of Hell or Heaven.

This tune was inspired by the idea of unleashing the demon within. It expresses my disdain for always needing to keep my shadow side in check internally while I outwardly act virtuous in the real world. 

Being a good person is hard work because it takes a lot of strength and conviction to survive the tests to come that tempt you to betray your sense of ethics.

I think the key of being a truly virtuous person is accepting and integrating your shadow side. It's knowing that you've got evil within you and learning how to use that in a positive way.

Or it was just me be needing a break from the generic rock and emo sound my first two songs generated and thought I'd express my natural element with a heavy song. YOU DECIDE!!!

The Demon Within is the Angel Without

It's damn cold in Canada. It's April and we had a day where it was dark and rainy all morning, snowy in the afternoon, and the sun didn't come up until about the early evening.

This song was inspired by the insomnia I had due to the constantly shifting heat and cold in my body, being unsure about whether I should wrap myself in my blanket or not. 

At least when it's summer it is just consistently hot so it's easy to dress for the weather, whereas in winter time you gotta wear varying layers of clothes depending on how cold or not so cold it's going to be.

I wrote this song with the feelings of "when the hell's summer gonna come? I miss ice cold beers and freshly barbequed burgers."

Furthermore, the dual melodies you hear between the left and right guitars are a metaphor for how repetitive the seasons are. Each "melody set" represents a season, and to have them playing off each other at the same, and with ever switching guitar tones, it's all an allegory for how the time of year and the weather are pretty ambiguous and unclear living in the Frozen North.

Or I'm just waxing too poetically over an overall super chill tune which I just so happen to make dual melodies work together the way I did. YOU DECIDE!!!

Endless Wait For Summer

Skyrocket

During this worldwide pandemic, many of us are stuck at home with very little to do but wait endlessly for the quarantine to end. Life is at a standstill, we have paused from our busy lives, and many are left to their own devices, literally and figuratively, as we resort to contacting our loved ones solely through our phones and computers.

Much to the introverts dismay, this way of life was a default mode of being and an individual choice, and now it is forced upon us all. Some may maintain their momentum in being productive while others have no choice to submit to their own hedonism as they stare at screens all day, finding every last website, game, and chatting program to pass the time.

While we wait, we either wax and/or wane about our lives, wondering if and when things will ever get back to normal. Or worse; what the normal is going to be after all this is over.

Introvert or not, we all long for the day in which we can share a meal at a restaurant with our loved ones, partake in recreational activities out in public, and gather in person like we were once able to do, in a past that wasn't actually too long ago, though is starting to feel as such. 

In our busy hustle glorifying culture, this is the perfect time to pause and reflect, lest we be swallowed by our own unconscious thoughts. Never mind the day to day grind of contributing to society and making a living, we now have the opportunity to explore the societies within ourselves. Each of us being complex amalgamations of everyone we've met, everything's we've heard or watched, everything we've read...

It is time that we finally take the time to come to grips with how all of these influences have affected our way of life.

And while, yes, being able to pay bills and put food on the table are important, so too are introspection and personal development. Like the moon in the night sky, we either wax and expand the glimmer of our light, or wane and fade into the darkness.

Wax or wane amidst these strange and trying times, it's your choice.
