In the space of just four years and little over 20 releases, Hamburg’s JEUDI Records has established itself as one of the foremost imprints in the world of melodic deep and tech house music. Born from the weekly club night of the same name taking place at their hometown venue Baalsaal (on the infamous Reeperbahn), it’s a label which focuses on quality over quantity, and has showcased music from the likes of Doctor Dru, Adana Twins, Turntablerocker, Sidney Charles and Monte in its short but acclaimed history. House Of Disco are back in full swing after a short hiatus, building on their pedigree that has brought the world music from the likes of Finnebassen, EJECA and Volta Cab over the past two years. With an increasingly busy global DJ schedule, their own parties in London and their own guest mix series bolstering their consistent online curation, they have amassed a sizable, fervent following.

House Of Jeudi makes for a seriously moreish listen, full to the brim of incredibly consistent and charismatic dancefloor delights - with each label picking six tracks. JEUDI’s selection takes us from the moody Reese basslines of Danito & Athina’s Harmony Baby, to Sean Roman’s contemplative I Find Myself and the spooky depths of Camelphat’s 360, while House Of Disco journey through the skippy funk of Roberto Rodriguez’s North Step, HNNY’s delicate Oma Doris, and the slinky disco of LeSale’s Fit Trucker.

Suited just as well to the home stereo as to the dancefloor, it’s an engrossing compilation that’s got plenty to offer for DJs and casual listeners alike, and looks set to cement both labels incredibly solid reps even further.

The Cactus Channel and Chet Faker announce a 7inch two-track recording out September 18.

Funk/soul band, The Cactus Channel, have collaborated with ARIA Award winner Chet Faker for two tracks, ‘Kill the Doubt’ and ‘Sleeping Alone’ on a 7inch set for release via HopeStreet Recordings.

The recording, two years in the making, is a fine example of the depth of Melbourne’s music scene. It features Chet Faker’s seasoned songwriting with The Cactus Channel’s ear for musical instrumentation, resulting in a dose of classic soul and funk seen through a uniquely Melbourne perspective.

Khruangbin is a three-piece band from Texas, formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald Johnson on drums. Taking influence from 1960's Thai funk - their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai - Khruangbin is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool. Khruangbin's exotic, individual sound is captured at their spiritual home, a remote barn deep in the Texas countryside where their first rehearsals took place. Debut album ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ is scheduled for release at the end of this year.
