Welcome to episode 05 of the Gekiga Podcast. This week we bring you a hard hitting, hypnotic set by my talented comrade Russ (ARG). 

Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Russ (ARG) started his DJ career in 2017.  Over the past eight years, Russ’s talent and perseverance led him to share the stage with internationally renowned artists such as Xhei, Kølpøs, and Mariano DC. 

Unsatisfied with just DJing, however, Russ delved into music production, and, soon after, he released his debut track with Cristian Varela on London’s Emphatic Records. Most notably, Russ collaborated with Mariano DC on the powerful Assassin’s Syndicate EP released on Brazil’s Primitive State Records.

Russ continues to evolve his unique sound, dropping EPs on Signal Records, Emphatic Records, Selected Records, 091 REC, Primitive State, Volk Edition, Ethnic Meeting records, and many others.

Welcome to episode 09 of the Gekiga podcast. This week we’re proud to share a proper hypno mix by multitalented, Chilean native, DJ & Producer extraordinaire: Diego Oroquieta.

In his relatively short career, Diego has already dropped multiple EPs on some of the defining techno labels of the current era. Starting in 2021, Diego has released highly rated music on Muted Recordings (Portugal), Selected Recordings (Spain), Newrythmics (Spain), Olympian (United States), to name just a few. 

His tracks have been featured on sets by some of the best DJs of our time such as Marcell Dettmann, Adriana Lopez, Slam, DJ Nobu, Border One, Jeroen Search, Vertical Spectrum, Kaiser, Arnaud Le Texier, Wata Igarashi, Quelza , DJ Shufflemaster, Pfirter, Joseph Capriati, and many others.

Personally, I think Diego is one of the best young talents today. His tracks have a singular sound that is raw, primal, but highly sophisticated. GKG RECS is currently working with Diego towards our first collaborative release which will feature a blistering remix by the god of brutality himself: ENDPLATE. 

I believe Diego’s reputation and appreciation will only continue to rise as more diggers come around to his impressive and growing catalog.

We’re honored to feature Diego on GEKIGA podcast and our work together is just getting started.

This hour-long live act is a journey through various shades of techno — starting with funky, groove-driven sounds, moving through hypnotic, pulsating structures, and culminating in energetic, tribal rhythms. The set is built on the organic evolution of sound and the raw energy of a live performance, capturing the spirit of a club night and spontaneous improvisation. Performed live using two MC-707 grooveboxes and Analog Heat as the master effect.

Active in the electronic music scene since 1997. His journey with techno began at the Techno Dance Mission party  in Szczecin. Shortly after, he became a resident DJ at the Thursday techno nights at the club Oszołom. He played at underground — sometimes illegal — events, including in an old factory in Gryfino, at the 12 groszy club in Stargard, Lokomotywa, an airfield in Chojna, delivering uncompromising minimal techno and live acts as part of the duo Phonic Dept. He was also a regular guest on the radio show Cyber noc, hosted by Robert 'Siwy' Nowak.

Today, he produces music and performs live using Roland MC-707 grooveboxes. His sound is energetic, groove-driven techno with elements of funk and tribal, echoing the vibe of the golden era of turn-of-the-century techno. His live sets often include original remixes of well-known tracks. Together with Kjar, he promotes dub techno in Szczecin through a series of events called Dub Echoes. He was a finalist of the Tour Music Fest 2024 in San Marino — a European contest for vocalists and music producers.

His tracks have been released on Spanish label SURAW Records, Italian Hardonymus Records, French SUMMT, Aesthetics Records, and the dub techno-focused label Dublucid. He has performed live at Szczecin clubs such as After Ego, Szafa, and Hala Odra with the Neuroshocked, The Error, The Underground, Salty Pleasure, at the Piknik nad Odrą on the Chrobry Embankment, in Berlin with Heaven Label, and at Dom Technika in Poznań. He is also the founder and co-organizer (with 888 Collective) of TechNOC events held at Dziewoklicz and the sports clearing in Szczecin.
