Begin To Forget You

Over the arc of about five months, I went through a total change in my life. After a very difficult break up and a change of friends and environment, I found myself at a crossroads. I went through all the stages of growing up and finding myself in just one summer. It was hard. There were many tears, lots of confusion, and an overwhelming amount of mistakes. It was also some of the absolute best months of my life because I became a "Tabula Rasa", a Latin phrase meaning "blank slate". I started over completely and rediscovered myself. There were endless opportunities of finding who I could be that came from breaking ties with people I thought I would have in my life forever. There were also people that stood by me through it all whom I am forever grateful for. The one thing though that never failed me and always understood me completely was music. These songs were what I held on to and referred back to when I couldn't remember who I was. They reminded me to be thankful for my past and to always look towards the future in hope.

August is a collaborative project with music written by Vargas and arranged by the group, Theresa Redmond, Michael Pierce, William Wright, and Bailey Budnik. The group formed near the end of May, 2017, through the music department at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI. Before the current group came together, Vargas collaborated with other musicians and released an E.P. in September of 2016 called "Tabula Rasa". 

Most of August has been trained in music at a collegiate level and it has given their music a technically refined sound. The combination of varying styles led to their own distinct genre of Modern R&B.
