Le premier EP d’aglaska, VWAYAJ est le témoignage enivré des expéditions imaginaires de trois jeunes rêveurs bien destinés à emmener son auditeur dans ses traversées sonores. Repéré par les jurys des concours Ricard S.A. Live Music, Pression Live et Caisse d’Epargne sous le nom de 38, Feuille d’AGLASKA, le trio fait peau neuve en 2015 et se renomme plus sobrement aglaska. Entre les productions aériennes de Mercury Rev, le gigantisme mystique de 2001 l’Odyssée de l’Espace et la simplicité bigarré d’Henri Matisse, aglaska est adepte des contradictions. 

Accompagné d’Arnaud Gavini (batteur pour Rover, Iñigo Montoya, Bangkok) à la réalisation et de Vincent Brulin au mix (Fortune, Izia, Macadam Crocodile), aglaska choisi l’auto production et enregistre cet EP au studio Polysound (GUSH). 

VWAYAJ se décline en cinq titres comme autant d’expéditions : en introduction, sage annonce l’envol vers des contrées lointaines, entre les dédales de percussions modernes et les couches de synthétiseurs fantasques; vwayaj club est une longue promenade où les rythmes ensoleillés précèdent une apothéose lunaire; puis, galaxie emmène l’auditeur dans des rêveries mystiques, où claviers et guitares se rencontrent pour conter l’histoire sinueuse de deux êtres séparés; libreville se présente ensuite comme une prise sauvage, un interlude brut et contemplatif; enfin, nuées astrales interprète un ascenseur émotionnel où l’hiver pâle assiège les pics étincelants des synthés illuminés aux guitares éthérées.

Introducing Tess Roby, a 23 year old musician and photographer born in Toronto and now living in Montreal. "Ballad 5" is a song of love and loss in the humid Montreal summer - the sound of Parc Avenue in the blue light of dawn. Her music echoes the cascading pulse of Steve Reich, the drone of Stereolab, and the melancholic drift of Durutti Column, and her voice lands somewhere between Broadcast's Trish Keenan and Nico. On record she is accompanied by her brother Eliot Roby on guitar.
